| 13 | 🎓 AP vs SAT: What’s the Difference — and Why It Matters?
Some students preparing for college admissions confuse SAT and AP. While both are run by College Board, they serve very different purposes.
📚 What is SAT?
- A standardized test measuring general academic skills: math, reading, and writing.
- Almost every student applying abroad takes it.
- Main purpose: to show overall higher academic readiness to the college environment compared to other applicants.
For Uzbek students, the SAT has been the primary way to prove academic strength, since our national school system is not globally recognized.
📝 What is AP (Advanced Placement)?
- College-level courses and exams in specific subjects – such as Calculus, Chemistry, Economics.
- Optional, but highly valued by prestigious universities.
- Main purpose: to show subject-specific strength and ability to handle university-level work.
Some institutions may also grant college credit or allow you to skip introductory courses if you score well (4 or 5).
🆚 Key Difference
- SAT => basic requirement for almost everyone
- AP => extra academic proof to stand out among strong applicants
As more Uzbek students are now scoring 1500+ on the SAT, AP is becoming the next step for those aiming for TOP universities.
🤔Want to know whether you need APs, how to prepare, and which subjects to choose?
🤫Stay tuned, because SOON, we will announce something new!

| 14 | 🎓 AP Exams: What You Need to Know
If you read our previous post, you should have understood what AP is and why it is important. But now, we would like to give detailed information about the exam by answering common questions.
🧮 How exam performance is evaluated?
Scores range from 1 to 5:
5 – Extremely well qualified
4 – Well qualified
3 – Qualified
❗️Most perstigious institutions prefer 4 or 5, thus it is advised to submit only these high scores.
📆💰When it is held, and how much is the price?
AP exams are held once a year in May worldwide.
Starting from September, the registration lasts until November of the previous year – with the exam fee around $100–150 per subject (depending on the center).
However, late registrations after November charge higher fees, likely above $200. Therefore, we recommend you to plan ahead to keep yourself from extra costs.
📍 Where can you take it in Uzbekistan?
Since AP is not taught at Uzbek schools, exams are held only at College Board–authorized private centers in some regions of the country.
Seats are limited, so early registration is essential.
📝 How is it structured?
Most AP exams have two sections:
- Multiple-choice questions (MCQ)
- Free-response questions (FRQ) – essays, problem-solving, or explanations (depending on the subject)
The total exam time is usually 2–3 hours.
📌 How many APs should you take?
There is no fixed number, but most competitive applicants take 3–6 AP exams in subjects relevant to their intended major.
Quality matters more than quantity.
If you are interested in taking AP exams, stay tuned for news and put 🔥 reactions under this post.

| 15 | 🎓 What is AP, and Why Should You Take It?
You may have heard of AP exams, but many students still don’t fully understand what they actually are, or why they are important.
📕So, What is AP?
Advanced Placement (AP) is a program by College Board (the same organization that conducts the SAT). It offers high school students the chance to study college-level subjects such as Calculus, Biology, Physics, and more.
After completing a course and taking the AP exam, a high score (typically 4 or 5) can demonstrate strong academic excellence — and in some cases, earn university credit, leaving no need to take particular courses in college.
🇺🇿Why Is AP Important in Uzbekistan?
Because Uzbekistan’s school curriculum is not totally recognized in global higher education, students have traditionally relied on SAT to demonstrate their academic strength.
However, as more students are now scoring above 1500, the SAT alone is not sufficient to stand out in admissions cycle.
Adding AP exams can significantly strengthen your college application by showing depth in specific subjects and academic readiness.
AP courses are difficult and require serious commitment, but with the right guidance, they make the true difference. Stay tuned for more AP content!
