Smart Typer Pro just got a lot bigger. With the latest release, Smart Typer Pro is taking another step toward becoming a much more versatile Android application. Here are some of the things that have made it into this update: 📊 Excel & Spreadsheet Support Smart Typer can now open and work with Microsoft Excel files (.xlsx and .xls), as well as CSV files. You can view spreadsheets, move between multiple sheets, work with formatted cells, and copy accessible cell content — bringing a much more practical spreadsheet experience directly to Android. 🔊 Google Text-to-Speech Voices Text to Audio now supports Google voices alongside Microsoft voices. This gives users more choice over the voice provider, languages, regional voices, and overall listening experience when converting text into audio. 📄 A New PDF Reader Smart Typer now includes an accessible PDF reader with text extraction, OCR for scanned content, page navigation, translation, read-aloud, saving extracted content as notes, and sharing. You can also work with extracted PDF text using tools such as splitting, copying, translating and reading it aloud. Scanned and image-based PDF pages can be processed through OCR as well. 🖼️ Image-to-Text OCR Images can now be processed using a multi-engine OCR system with support for multiple languages and scripts, including English, Hindi, and Urdu. The extracted text can then be copied, edited, split, translated, read aloud, saved, or shared. 📰 newsCast Live Hindi and English news can now be accessed directly within Smart Typer, with search, translation, text-to-speech, playback, sharing, and reading customization. You can adjust reading preferences, choose voices, control speech rate, and continue listening with background playback. 🔍 Smarter File Scanning The file scanning workflow has also been expanded. Previously, Smart Utilities primarily searched within Smart Typer's own directory. It can now scan the device's internal storage, making it much easier for utilities such as the Image Viewer, Video Player, and Audio Player to discover files across the phone. A dedicated Scan for Folder option has also been added, making it easier to specifically locate and work with folders on the device. ⚙️ A Better Settings Experience The Settings section has been reorganized into dedicated categories, making it much easier to find the option you're looking for instead of going through one long settings screen. General, Editor, AI & Voice Typing, Text to Audio, PDF Reader, File Browser, and newsCast settings now have their own dedicated sections. There's also a new option to choose what Smart Typer opens to by default — either the File Browser or Smart Utilities. And when a file is opened through Android's Open With or Share functionality, Smart Typer gives that external file the priority it needs instead of unnecessarily interrupting the workflow. There are also a number of smaller improvements, bug fixes, stability enhancements, and changes across the application that aren't as visible but make a difference in everyday use. It started around notes and text. Now it can work with spreadsheets, PDFs, images, audio, video, documents, news, AI, voice, and much more — while still keeping the original productivity tools at its core. And there's still plenty more I want to build.
