| 3 | The Pain of the Past
Just before New Year, a 35-year-old woman came to see me with a fascinating concern.
Whenever she enters a relationship with a man, she develops pain in her chest and has panic attacks. Once the relationship ends, the symptoms disappear. And this happens with every man.
She deeply wants a family and children, but each relationship brings unexplained physical pain—even though her partners don’t mistreat her.
She’s spent years working on this with different specialists, but nothing has helped.
“Sergey, every time a relationship begins, I feel like I’m dying. My whole body hurts terribly, especially my heart, but all my medical tests show that I’m perfectly healthy.”

| 6 | Somewhere in the world, every man has a woman meant just for him. She isn’t better than anyone else—she’s simply the only one he truly needs. It’s a mystery with no explanation.

| 7 | What matters more: loving someone or being loved?
What matters most is being needed. What’s the point of loving someone who doesn’t need you? And what’s the point of being loved by someone you don’t need? The most important thing between two people is to need each other.

| 8 | The Value of the Moment
Waiting is life’s greatest obstacle. Always looking to tomorrow, it ruins today. You try to control what is still in Fortune’s hands, while letting go of what was yours to shape. What are you looking toward? What are you reaching for? The future is unknown—live now!

| 10 | Fall for someone who truly wants you and is willing to wait for you. Someone who understands your quirks, helps you find your way, and supports you and your hopes. Fall for someone who will still talk things through after an argument, who misses you and wants to be by your side. Just don’t fall for a body, a face, or the idea of being loved.

| 11 | Reflection
Living is like rushing through a museum. Only afterward do you begin to take in what you saw, think it over, look it up in books, and remember—because you can’t absorb it all at once.

| 12 | AI did the homework. Who gets the A?
Today, Gallup published a fascinating study: 59% of American teachers have already used AI in their work. Nearly two-thirds say it has given them more time to focus on what matters most: teaching.
That’s good news. Maybe we’ve finally invented a technology that can tackle the endless reports, lesson plans, and spreadsheets teachers fill out instead of spending time with students. But another side of this caught my attention.
Picture an ordinary school a couple of years from now. A teacher asks AI to create a 20-question test. A minute later, it’s ready and handed out to the class.
A student photographs the questions, uploads them to another AI tool, and gets the answers a minute later.
The teacher then feeds the completed tests into AI and asks it to grade them.
The student gets an A, the teacher’s results look great, and the principal has excellent statistics. Parents are happy. The learning process is officially complete.
There’s just one small question left: did anyone actually learn anything?
I’m not against using AI in education. Its potential is enormous. It can explain difficult concepts in different ways, tailor exercises to individual students, provide practice, and offer feedback. The issue is something else.
Learning means doing some of the intellectual work yourself. Sometimes you get it wrong, take your time, fail to understand the first time, and try again. But we’re so used to measuring efficiency by the number of tasks completed and how quickly results arrive that we’re starting to confuse finishing an assignment with gaining knowledge.
In business, automating work usually boosts productivity. Education is more complicated. When someone else solves a problem for a student, the problem gets solved. But the student doesn’t automatically get any smarter.
Perhaps AI’s most important role in education is to free teachers from unnecessary work without freeing students from the need to think.

| 13 | Respect yourself.
Don’t chase status symbols, put on a show, lie, or brag. Your self-worth shouldn’t depend on your phone, your clothes, or your car. When you know your value, others will respect you regardless of what you own.

| 15 | Accept other people’s feelings for what they are
It’s worth remembering something important: you are not responsible for how other people feel. They’re free to have any feelings about you—your personality, responsibilities, appearance, and everything else. What they choose to do with those feelings is up to them. You don’t have to bend over backwards or change who you are or how you act just to make them feel better, more comfortable, or at ease.
If someone holds you responsible for their feelings, bad mood, or distress, they’re manipulating you.

| 16 | Take a closer look at the people around you.
In an aquarium, a shark grows to just 30–40 cm. In the ocean, it can reach 4–6 meters.
People are much the same: our surroundings shape us. The right environment can help us grow, while the wrong one can hold us back.

| 18 | “Make the most of life” is bad advice.
Don’t take everything indiscriminately or hold on to things you don’t really need. Learn to tell what matters from what doesn’t, and choose carefully what you want in your life. There’s no room for clutter kept “just in case”—make space for the people, things, and experiences that truly matter.

| 19 | An unexpected truth:
Focus on your successes and everything that’s going well, rather than dwelling on the opposite. Then watch as more wonderful, positive things begin to fill your life.

| 20 | Be patient.
Don’t worry about anything. If things seem to be going wrong, wait and see how they unfold. Remember, every chain of events takes its course. If something feels off, the story isn’t over yet.
