On May 7, 2026, the National Competition Commission of Vietnam issued Decision No. 123/QĐ-XPHC imposing a fine of VND 290,000,000 (~ $11,000) on Xiaomi Vietnam Co., Ltd. for 3 violations:
- Not giving consumers the option to allow or not allow the use of their information for advertising, promoting products, goods, services, and other commercial activities.
- Failing to notify or disclose to consumers in advance the sponsorship of influencers in any form to use their image, advice, or recommendations for commercial promotion or to encourage consumers to buy or use products, goods, or services.
- Including clauses that are not permitted in general terms and conditions of transactions.

The code proves that at Xiaomi, 8 == 9 is a valid boolean if Lei Jun says so. Don't buy a Pad 9, just rename your Pad 8 in the settings and save yourself the cash.

On May 4th, the Redmi K90 Pro Max was just 24 charge cycles old when battery health already showed up at 95% Despite having a 7560mAh large battery, the device battery was already 5% down before it had even seen a full month of use. The service centre seemed like the logical next step, but logic has no place in the Xiaomi ecosystem.
And so the prayers went up to Lei Jun, and the blessings came down in the form of firmware miracles. May 12th brought a silent, unexplained jump to 97%, and May 14th quietly added one more point to make it 98%. No update, no explanation, just blessings materialising on a screen.
