A Sunday School teacher had just concluded her lesson and wanted to make sure she had made her point. She said, “Can anyone tell me what you must do before you can obtain forgiveness of sin?”
There was a short pause and then, from the back of the room, a small boy spoke up. “Sin,” he said. 😊🤣🤣🤣

| 5 |  Hold On to God In Troubled Times
On a commuter flight from Portland, Maine, to Boston, Henry Dempsey, the pilot, heard an unusual noise near the rear of the small aircraft. He turned the controls over to his copilot and went back to check it out.
As he reached the tail section, the plane hit an air pocket, and Dempsey was tossed against the rear door. He quickly discovered the source of the mysterious noise. The rear door had not been properly latched prior to takeoff, and it flew open. He was instantly sucked out of the jet.
The copilot, seeing the red light that indicated an open door, radioed the nearest airport, requesting permission to make an emergency landing. He reported that the pilot had fallen out of the plane and requested a helicopter search of that area of the ocean.
After the plane landed, they found Henry Dempsey--holding on to the outdoor ladder of the aircraft. Somehow, he had caught the ladder, held on for 10 minutes as the plane flew 200 miles at an altitude of 4000 feet, and then, at landing, he kept his head from hitting the runway, which was a mere 12 inches away. It took airport personnel several minutes to pride Dempsey's fingers from the ladder.
Things in life may be turbulent, and you may not feel like holding on. But have you considered the alternative?
Hold on to God, stay in His Word daily, and pray always.

| 6 |  Loving God’s Son
In his splendid book of anecdotes entitled Bible Windows, Ivor Powell tells the story of a rich man who died and left no heirs. When his household goods were auctioned off, an elderly lady dressed in shabby garments was the only one to bid on the picture of the dead man’s son.
It had been greatly cherished by the wealthy father because his only child had died at an early age. But the crowd that had gathered for the sale showed no interest in it.
When the woman who bought the portrait was asked why she wanted it, she said she had been the boy’s nurse many years before, and had loved him dearly.
Later she examined the picture closely and noticed a bulge in the heavy paper on the back. Making a small cut, she removed an envelope which turned out to be the man’s missing will.
The document very clearly stated that he wanted to leave his property to the person who still held dear the memory of his beloved son.

In the city of Chicago, one cold, dark night, a blizzard was setting in.
A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner. The people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers.
He walked up to a policeman and said, "Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you? You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."
The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come to the door you just say John 3:16, and they will let you in."
So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered.
He looked up and said, "John 3:16."
The lady said, "Come on in son." She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went off.
The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself: John 3:16... I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm.
Later, she came back and asked him, "Are you hungry?"
He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days and I guess I could stand a little bit of food."
The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself : John 3:16... boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full.
She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought to himself : John 3:16... I sure don't understand it but it sure does make a dirty boy clean.
You know, I've not had a real bath in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.
The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window, at the snow coming down on that cold night, he thought to himself: John 3:16... I don't understand it but it sure makes a tired boy rested.
The next morning, the lady came back up and took him down again to that same table full of food. After he ate, she took him down again to that same big old split bottom rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible. She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face.
"Do you understand John 3:16?" she asked gently.
He replied, "No ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it."
She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus.
Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there and thought: John 3:16. I don't understand it, but it sure makes a lost boy feel safe.
You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing.
I don't understand the agony of the Father and every angel in Heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.

| 12 |  Personal Prayer Request: Please pray for me today, as I will be in court today trying to settle a legal matter with an unbeliever who owes Ann and I several thousand dollars. It is not something I want to do, but his attorney summoned me to court today. This is one of the many reasons that I am not able to post as many things as I desire to do. I have shared the gospel with this man, but his response was: I am a good Jew, one of God's people." I will be representing myself and I pray the judge will allow my daughter to help present our side. 🙏 Please pray the Lord will give me words fitly spoken and that His will be accomplished today. Sometimes we imagine that God only uses people with extraordinary gifts or remarkable stories. Yet as we study His Word together, we see Him choosing ordinary people again and again. He called shepherds like David, widows like Ruth, farmers like Amos, and fishermen like Peter—not because they were extraordinary, but because they were willing to trust Him.
Today we travel to Paraguay, where we meet Rosario, who discovered that God had prepared a place for her to serve Him right where she was.
Rosario’s Story
“I listen to this program every day through the app. As I studied God’s Word consistently, I realized I have a testimony to share. God has drawn me closer to Himself and given me a sense of identity. He showed me that I can serve Him right where I am. No matter how humble my position may seem, the Lord sees me and can use me to reach others. I have even shared the app with my brother, and today he is also being nourished by God’s Word."
It’s true. God is not looking for extraordinary people—He’s looking for willing hearts. The place where He has planted us is often the very place He intends to display His grace. As we faithfully walk with Him, He works through our everyday lives to point others to Jesus.
Heavenly Father, thank You for seeing each one of us and inviting us to serve You. Help believers throughout Paraguay faithfully live for Christ wherever You have placed them, and use Your Word to draw many others to Yourself. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

| 19 | God Honors Our Devotion to Him
Being faithful to the Lord may put us at odds with the world, but the reward of His delight is always worth it.
Daniel 1:3-21
Daniel and his friends faced a dilemma that echoes in our own life: What do we do when faithfulness to God puts us at odds with the world around us? Our challenge is to live under God’s authority while remaining in submission to the law of the land. But when the two collide, our first instinct should be to seek the Lord’s guidance before moving forward.
Daniel’s example shows us what that looks like in practice. Had he bluntly declared, “I won’t eat this food!” he wouldn’t have lasted long. But the Lord gave him the wisdom to humbly seek permission from the person in authority over him rather than stage a confrontation (Dan. 1:8-13). God honored Daniel’s commitment and provided a way for him to live righteously—not through defiance, but through discernment.
We remember Daniel and his three friends for the remarkable lives they lived. But it’s important to realize that the determining factor was never their own greatness. Rather, it was their devotion to a heavenly Father who does extraordinary things in lives that are fully surrendered to Him. Keep in mind their example of faithfulness, and watch what God does when you make yourself available to Him. | 89 |
