A Company has following Betas:
1. Asset Beta [Unlevered/Ungeareed Beta]
2. Equity Beta [Stock Beta, Levered/Geared Beta]
3. Debt Beta
In silent situation: Beta of company given in question is always assumed as 'Equity Beta'
Important Note: Tax saving on Debt in Beta Calculation or WACC Calculation
In equation of Asset Beta: Tax saving is considered on weight of Debt Amount
In WACC Calculation: Tax saving is already considered on Kd [Hence, not considered in weight of debt amount again]
Portfolio
Weight to be Taken in Calculation of Portfolio Beta/Return
1st priority: Opening Market Value of securities
2nd priority: Initial Investment/Cost of securities
Note: If Only Market Value of Security is given in Question, then it means Closing Market Value [Hence, not used in weight]
Mutual Funds
Cash Balance is always assumed as Closing unless specifically mentioned [i.e. Expenses are not deducted again]
Business Valuation
In FCFE Model, If debt ratio is not given in question but 'New debt to be issued' is given, then consider debt ratio as 0 and Add: New debt to be issued in FCFE calculation
Derivatives
In hedging using futures, if no. of contracts come in decimals, then you can now round off it to whole number normally
