Protesters in Indonesia are hitting the streets to demand fair treatment for workers. They’re upset that lawmakers keep raising their own salaries while workers are still stuck with low wages and insecure jobs. One big issue is outsourcing, which should’ve been limited after a court ruling, but the government hasn’t really followed through.
Their demands are clear: stop outsourcing and reject cheap labor, prevent mass layoffs by creating a special task force, reform labor taxes so workers aren’t taxed on things like severance pay, holiday bonuses, or retirement funds, and remove unfair taxes on married women. They also want parliament to pass a proper labor law outside the omnibus system, approve the asset confiscation bill to fight corruption, and redesign the election system for 2029.
It’s not just about salaries, but about fairness, justice, and making sure the government actually listens to the people instead of ignoring their own promises.
