Federal whistleblower Daniel Berulis has accused the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) of unauthorized access to the National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) sensitive systems, bypassing security protocols by demanding top-level Azure cloud access. He alleges that DOGE disabled logging, exfiltrated over 10 GB of data from systems like the NxGen legal case database, and within minutes of account creation, suspicious logins from Russian IPs occurred after multi-factor authentication was disabled. The incident reportedly caused an 8% Azure billing spike, and Berulis claims he faced intimidation tactics, including a drone-delivered threat. Despite these concerns, senior officials allegedly blocked a US-CERT investigation, while NPR highlighted similar DOGE activities across other agencies, raising alarms about data privacy and potential conflicts of interest linked to Elon Musk’s involvement.

In the final days of his regime, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad covertly smuggled cash, valuables, and sensitive documents out of Syria through a series of secret flights to Abu Dhabi, coordinated with Russia and the UAE. The C5-SKY jet made four such trips, carrying at least $500,000 in unmarked cash, items linked to Assad’s financial empire, artworks, and key regime figures. Assad fled to Russia on December 8, 2024, using a Russian military base. Individuals under Western sanctions, such as Ahmed Khalil Khalil, were involved, and the plane was leased from a Lebanese businessman who denies ties to the operation. The new Syrian government is now attempting to recover the smuggled assets.

The UK Supreme Court unanimously ruled that under the Equality Act 2010, the term “woman” refers to a biological female, rejecting the Scottish government’s argument that legal documentation should determine gender. While affirming that trans individuals remain protected under the law, the court emphasized that sex-based rights are based on biological sex. Though the judges clarified it wasn't a "triumph," many see the decision as a reaffirmation of biological definitions over administrative changes.

In 2024, several Israeli companies supplied over $10 million worth of high-precision metalworking tools to Russia’s defense sector, despite international sanctions and Israel’s official neutrality on the Ukraine war. The equipment, including drills and superhard alloys, was funneled through intermediaries in China and Uzbekistan. ISCAR, a U.S.-based Israeli firm, accounted for $4 million in tools reaching major Russian military manufacturers like NPO Bazalt and Beriev. Vargus supplied $3 million in tools used in the production of advanced jets and missile systems, while Carmex and EROJET contributed around $2 million and $500,000 respectively. A significant portion of these exports was re-routed via Chinese shell companies and Uzbek firms, with Techproject playing a central role in directing ISCAR tools to Russian importer Resursprofi.

The EU has rejected U.S. demands to alter its food standards regulations in ongoing tariff negotiations, citing strong opposition from both public opinion and the European farming lobby. Sources told the Irish Times that proposals allowing hormone-treated beef or chlorine-washed chicken into the EU single market would be unacceptable. The European Commission reaffirmed that EU food health and safety standards are non-negotiable and will not be compromised in talks with the U.S. or any other country.
