So what It appears likely that the US has lost an aircraft over Iran and the initial denial is designed to give the crew a chance to escape. While it is unclear if Iran has indeed captured the crew, if they have it will be a massive propaganda win and could have a significant effect in the conflict. It is possible it could lead to a special forces recovery operation which would escalate the conflict further.

Additionally, footage has emerged (second & third clip) showing U.S. Air Force HC-130J Combat King II search and rescue aircraft and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters flying at low altitude over Southern Iran, with the operation believed to be a search for the crew of a downed F-15E Strike Eagle.
