| 15 | It's strange that companies come up with their own specific name for a particular threat actor from each country. You'd expect the threat actors themselves to keep changing their names to make identification a bit harder, but it's the companies that are doing this!
The very process of discovering and confirming which threat actor carried out an attack—and whether, for example, it was a false flag—is difficult enough. Now every company comes along and assigns its own name to each actor, making things unnecessarily harder for researchers.
For instance, for this one Iranian threat actor, all researchers have to know that the following names all refer to just one Iranian threat actor group—and not just any Iranian threat actor:
