New order for 24 Chinese JF-17s
Recent reports from various international media outlets, including Defense Arabic, suggest that Azerbaijan is poised to significantly bolster its air force by expanding its order of JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets, a strike fighter designed by China and produced by Pakistan.
Initially, Azerbaijan secured a deal for 16 of these advanced multirole aircraft, but unconfirmed sources now indicate the order may increase to 40 units, adding 24 more jets to the original agreement. This development, if verified, would mark a substantial enhancement of Azerbaijan’s aerial capabilities and deepen its defense ties with Pakistan, a key arms supplier alongside Turkey, Russia, and Israel.
The reported $4.2 billion deal, aims to strengthen Azerbaijan’s military posture in the volatile South Caucasus region.
While awaiting official confirmation from Baku, the potential expansion underscores Azerbaijan’s focus on modernizing its air force amid a complex regional security landscape.

YF-4E CCV Maneuverbility testbed with FBW and canards
Designated as the F-110A Spectre, the first Air Force derivatives were actually Navy F4H-1’s in disguise. In March 1962, the DoD announced that the aircraft would become the latest fighter and reconnaissance aircraft for the USAF. On March 30, McDonnell Aircraft received a letter of intent for a single F-110A (serial number 62-12199), and on May 29, McDonnell received a second letter for two YRF-110A reconnaissance aircraft (serial numbers 62-12200 and 62-12201).
It served as the prototype for the RF-4C (YRF-4C) and the F-4E (YF-4E) variants of the phantom.
Used to test various additions to the F-4 series such as leading edge slats (See: Agile Eagle), a Fly-By-Wire system and in its final form, canards, being designated the YF-4E CCV.
It was the first FBW aircraft to break mach 2.
Now resides at the USAF museum in Riverside, Ohio
CCV = combat configuration vehicle, where they sacrificed stability for maneuverbility
CCV config looks so out of place lmao

J-XDS (J-50?) turning while showing its upper fuselage and cockpit
Note the very interesting design of the split wingtips. Makes you wonder what it does to the RCS signature when it turns.
