In the forest of South Kingston Rhode Island stands this obelisk. This is the monument of The Great Swamp fight of 1675, a decisive English victory in King Philips War. The English located the winter encampment of the Narraganset and in that frozen swamp broke that tribe forever. This was a really cool place to drink when I was a teenager and it's one of my favorite places in the world.
