What happened:
OnlyFans has permanently tightened rate limits on certain endpoints. We deployed several fixes on our end to adapt to these changes.
What's new:
Our API now passes the Retry-After header (in addition to the existing retry_after field in the response body). This tells you exactly how long to wait before retrying.
⚙️ Best practices to avoid future 429s:
1. Use the Retry-After header
• If present in the response, wait at least that long before retrying
• Retrying sooner than the header says will make the back-off stricter
• If no header is present, fall back to exponential backoff
2. Exponential backoff
• 1s → 2s → 4s → 8s (double each time)
• Cap at your chosen max wait (e.g. 30–60s)
3. Queue your requests — don't burst
• Use a job queue (SQS, Laravel Queues, Sidekiq, etc.)
• Process requests steadily, not all at once
4. Cache when possible
• Cache responses to reduce unnecessary retries and API calls
