ይህን አመት, በተለይ the better part of the second half, I have been in search for a good comprehensive framework with which I can make sense of the world around me. And lately I seem to have found refuge in phenomenological hermeneutics, liberation theology classical/mystical theism and existentialism. I still have a passing knowledge of each of them tho. Bcha I thank God i finally found hills I can die on ( this will be decided after I study them thoroughly lol) and finally "be done" with my deconstruction and counter-apologetics phase.

Used to solve this in freshman btw 😭 Now I am not sure

Some traditions are old because they are truly valuable, while some are valued only because they are old

Back in the days where I grew up, we used to go to nearby Wenz at lelit 9 seat and take shower each day of Pagume. It sort of served as a cleansing ritual ( i think this comes from Orthodox Tewahdo tradition, but i cant be sure ) Miss those days

Because of the pervasive use of the word “religion” in the cultures of the modern Western world, we already intuitively know what “religion” is before we even try to define it: religion is anything that sufficiently resembles modern Protestant Christianity. Such a definition might be seen as crass, simplistic, ethnocentric, Christiano-centric, and even a bit flippant; it is all these things, but it is also highly accurate in refl ecting the uses of the term in modern languages. Every attempted definition of “religion” that I have seen has implicitly had this criterion at its base. Most of the debates about whether this or that “-ism” (Confucianism, Marxism, etc.) is “really a religion” boil down to the question of whether or not they are suffi ciently similar to modern Protestant Christianity. This situation should not be surprising given the history of the category of religion.
It is so sickening to realize that every single modern social construct is highly modeled after white, European and Protestant based preconceptions. We live and breath under Eurocentrism

YouTube reminded me of this peak Alex O'Connor episode [ The Ethics of Grand Theft Auto ]

Accusing Jews of deicide, ie as murderers of Jesus, is one of the most used antisemitic tropes through out the centuries. And I have seen many neo-nazis here on telegram using that argument. Posted a video on tiktok discussing the origins of this trope, check it out if you are interested

You know what I wonder always, where did we get this dichotomized view of the world? Why do we always draw a hard line between the spiritual and the secular? ( doing a reading on something related, will let yall know what I find ) I have always said this and I will say it again, the world is way too messy for us to have such a reductive black-and-white view.
