It's oversized, impossible to sit on, yet they can't resist it. They try over and over again, sliding off, convinced it's the 'right' choice. The painful reality is that by choosing the 'better' yet fake version, they stop caring about what truly matters—their own eggs. Poor birds. Its instinct is hijacked by something larger, brighter, and ultimately emptier. ~ The word Gamechanger echoes in my mind. Changing the game. But what happens when the game changes you? ~ Our behavior and the way we respond to stimuli create our patterns, our thinking, and our identity. And there's nothing inherently wrong with this. After all, everything is interconnected. But when you have unresolved trauma, you're more vulnerable to stimuli. Unresolved pain and unfinished business (aka trauma) create gaps, and those gaps get filled by anything that promises relief, even if it's short, hollow or destructive. Even when it makes more wounds. ~ "Do you actually know where you end and your survival patterns begin? Or are they so tangled you can't tell the difference?" Take a wound. Combine it with intense stimuli. And the game changes. Gamechanger. I have to be honest, it took me some time to realize that transformation is never about fighting the stimuli; it is all about maintaining control over your response to them. Not from willpower or from endurance. That doesn't work. No, you become master of the game when you are in touch with your own gold and love it so much that even when you see a bright blue egg, you still care more about your own. So what about you? Are you a Gamechanger on the hunt for your gold, or do you chase the brightest blue egg, sliding off every time, while wondering why nothing ever feels quite right? The choice, as always, is yours. Nikolaas Tinbergen once wrote about how stimuli create specific behaviors (The Study of Instinct, 1951). It's a no-brainer, really. Society runs on this concept: provide the right stimulus, and the behavior follows. But here's the catch—stimuli aren't just stimuli. They're powerful forces, capable of making you change course, they can pull you towards things that don't serve you or where you want to go. ~ Imagine small white songbirds. Did you know they prefer a fake egg too big to hatch over their own? These birds usually lay careful, light blue-grey eggs that blend perfectly into their nests. But show them a bright blue, black polka-dotted dummy egg, and they're hooked. (1/2) @freemindsons
