CA, CS, CMA, ACCA, CPA, CFA, or any other professional course in the world—one thing is common: a significant number of students drop out of these courses. Why? Various factors come into play, but the most crucial one—the lack of which often forces students to drop out—is their overall personality and attitude towards learning and growth. Let’s make one thing clear: quitting a professional course does not make you a loser in life. If you’re quitting for the right reasons, it’s absolutely okay. So, what are the right reasons? I’ve discussed this in a previous post, but to give you an idea—if your aptitude doesn’t align with the course you’ve chosen or with the career you wish to pursue, it’s perfectly reasonable to change your path. (Yes, there’s a difference between a course and a career.) However, if you’re quitting simply because the course demands a lot of effort—more accurately, a lot of consistent effort—then it’s time to reconsider your approach. Everything worthwhile in life demands consistency. No matter which field you choose, if you want to live a satisfying professional and personal life, you’ll need to put in consistent effort. Sometimes, the flood of success stories on social media makes us fixate only on the results, ignoring the consistent grind behind them. In doing so, we become wishful thinkers. I know that consistent efforts can feel monotonous at times. But here’s the truth—every super achiever you admire has mastered the art of doing the mundane things for a long time. They either find ways to make those tasks enjoyable, or they simply accept them for what they are and keep going regardless. So don’t let the mundane scare you off. Embrace it. Your result is out, and you couldn’t clear it. You saw the word “unsuccessful,” but let me tell you—this is not who you are. This is something that just happened to you. There might be certain reasons behind it—some that you can control and agree with, and some that you cannot control and don’t agree with. But whatever happened, remember—this is not your destiny. There are many teachers who got All India Ranks in their CA exams or cleared in their first attempt. I’m not one of them. I never got an AIR, and I even failed my CA Finals. So I can completely understand what you’re going through—I’m saying this from firsthand experience. At this moment, you have to make a choice. You have to decide what you want to become. You have to choose your result for the upcoming attempt. If you feel the system is unfair and that you deserved to pass, let me tell you—it’s not about the system. Life itself is not fair. But what we can do is put in extra hard work. We can learn from our mistakes. And if you believe there’s marks slashing by the institute, then let’s work 20% harder so that even if marks are slashed, you still clear your exams. From this moment onward, you will become what you choose to do on a daily basis. Choose the right thing. And I’m no one to tell you what that right thing is—the best part is, you already know it. Deep inside, you know what it takes to clear these exams. You also know there was some lack of effort on your part last time. Just look within, and you’ll find the answers. Dear CA Students You don’t need motivation. What you truly need is commitment—a commitment to yourself that you won’t repeat the mistakes of your past attempt. A commitment to study hard, to make daily plans, to cover your subjects with care, to give mock tests, and to solve questions even when you don’t feel like it. Once you’ve made that commitment, the real challenge begins—fulfilling it. Whatever it takes, you must do it. You have to execute what you’ve planned. There will be days when you won’t be able to give your 100%, but that’s when you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start again. Do it every single day until your exams are over. Because nothing worthwhile ever comes easy. And here’s the hardest part—you have to find peace while doing the hard thing. You must learn to be happy and satisfied in the process itself. Initially, it will feel boring, tiring, and maybe even frustrating. But gradually, you’ll start feeling good about the effort, the discipline, the consistency. That’s where transformation begins. Remember—how you do anything is how you do everything. This isn’t just exam preparation; it’s life preparation. Your commitment, your execution, and your ability to enjoy the process will become habits—and these habits will drive you forward in every area of your life. You got a rank in the CA Exam or just cleared with good marks. Please don’t forget your friends who studied with you and were not able to make it, but they were studying with you — they need your support. I know how it feels to be unsuccessful in exams. I know how it feels to see others clearing while you studied almost from the same teachers and did almost the same hard work. They — those who were not able to clear — will not tell you, but they feel defeated. They feel inferior. They are not jealous for sure; they just look down on themselves. And if, at this time, you don’t support or guide them, they may lose their confidence and trust in people forever. Just talk to them. Visit them. Give them a plan. Give them hope. Motivate them to work more and get out of this phase as soon as possible. When I failed in CA Finals, one of my friends cleared her 2nd group, and she motivated me a lot — and here I am. We both became CAs together.
