lemme tell you smtn random today 😁
growing up, i was that kid people always had high expectations for
teachers liked me, family members were proud of me and even my friends knew me as the kid who was always doing something unusual for his age
i used to read and write a lot
not just school books either
i'd randomly get obsessed with astronomy, poetry, fiction, literature and anything else that made me curious
i'd come up with random ideas and innovations, get some of the highest scores in school (like ከኦል 1ኛ mnamn) and somehow always give people another reason to say
"this kid has potential"
back then, i didn't think much of it
i just thought i was being myself
but now that i'm older, that word hits differently
even after my matric results, i heard the same thing
"he had the potential to score 550+ like those other guys who did, even though some of them had lower grades than him in the lower grades" 😂
and honestly, that made me think
how long are people going to keep talking about what i had the potential to become?
because at some point, potential stops being a compliment
it becomes a reminder
a reminder of all the things you could've done but didn't
and that's when i started looking back at myself
was i actually talented?
or was i just a kid who happened to spend a lot of time learning things he genuinely cared about?
the more i think about it, the more i believe it's the second one
i wasn't born knowing how to write
i wasn't born knowing astronomy
i wasn't born knowing how to create things
i just kept learning
and the same thing applies to almost everything people call talent
you become a writer by writing
a programmer by programming
a scientist by studying and experimenting
an athlete by training
a trader by studying, practicing and getting your ass kicked by the market
people see the result and call it talent
they don't see the thousands of hours that came before the result
maybe that's why i've started seeing talent differently
i don't think the most important thing humans are born with is some special ability
it's the ability to learn
and what you choose to spend that ability on eventually becomes what people call your talent
that's also why i think potential is the cheapest currency of all
because i've had plenty of it
people have told me about mine for years
but potential doesn't build anything
potential doesn't write the book
potential doesn't pass the exam
potential doesn't create the company
potential doesn't make you exceptional
work does
so these days, i don't really want people to tell me that i have potential anymore
i'd rather give them something they can't describe as potential
something i've actually built
something i've actually earned
because i don't want to spend the rest of my life being the kid who "had potential"
i want to become the person they were talking about when they said it

Repost from Abyssinian
I recently celebrated reaching 5K followers on X and also completed a challenge given to me by Tonkeeper.
and now, it’s time to begin the next chapter.
I’ve been given another challenge by the CO-Founder & COO of Conso, one that could ultimately change the trajectory of my X journey.
So, I’d like to ask you, my Telegram family, to help me reach my goal of 20K followers on X by the end of September while also accomplishing the challenge I’ve been given.
This challenge could open doors for me in ways beyond my imagination, creating multiple opportunities not only for me but also for my peers, all made possible with the support of my incredible Telegram & X family.
20K, here we come. Let’s make it happen together!

social media really changed the whole perspective of life and somehow turned the purpose of living into
private jets
luxury cars yachts and all that shit
lots of money and fame
jewelry and whatever else
and we somehow started treating all of that like the ultimate life goals
but frl when you really look at it everything is kinda pointless
minimalism really is the way
Diogenes was right

my grandma from ገጠር really came all the way here just to celebrate after hearing that i passed my entrance exam 😭
she pulled up with አረቄ and an entire database of ethnically biased compliments like “የኛ ዘር እኮ...” type shi, meanwhile im not even processing 30% of what she’s saying because my sleep debt has already entered bankruptcy 😭
and now she’s forcing me to drink አረቄ like grandma i genuinely do not need alcohol rn, i need a fucking horizontal surface and 14 business days of sleep 😭

nothing changes if all you do is consume. protein needs a workout, content needs comprehension and execution, tutorials need practice, art feeds need actual inspiration and creation
