| 2 | Strategy did not buy Bitcoin and repurchased $176 million worth of STRC shares last week
According to the company's SEC filings, Michael Saylor's Strategy did not buy or sell Bitcoin between August 31 and September 7. During this period, the company also did not sell MSTR shares.
As of September 7, Strategy held 845,050 BTC, having spent $63.73 billion on them since 2020 at an average purchase price of $75,412 per Bitcoin.
The company increased the limit of its debt and preferred stock buyback program to $2 billion and reported the repurchase of $176.3 million worth of STRC shares. The unused limit of the program is $1.19 billion.
However, STRC quotes have been unable to return to the $100 par value for nearly six months, which is the level at which Strategy can continue issuing these shares.
For Strategy, STRC are of particular importance. In less than a year, the issuance of these shares alone allowed the acquisition of 112,910 BTC (more than 13% of its total Bitcoin reserve). | 411 |
| 3 | A new consensus is starting to emerge in the crypto market:
The U.S. Treasury, with few options left, will ramp up purchases of U.S. Treasuries to prevent a market meltdown and curb a sharp rise in yields ahead of the November midterm elections. The resulting liquidity injection could push BTC to new all-time highs.
The thesis is gaining traction as the Treasury has already announced plans to double its long-dated bond buybacks starting in September, while Bitcoin has rallied alongside the weaker dollar and easing Treasury yields. | 1 139 |
| 4 | Scientists raised $100k to study marmots via OnlyFans and a memecoin
Research by American biologists, which has been ongoing for 60 years, was threatened with closure due to cuts in government funding. To raise funds, the scientists created an OnlyFans account named OnlyMarms (marms, short for marmots) in June.
Through this channel, they managed to raise only $6,000, but an unknown individual created the OnlyMarms memecoin on the Solana network and donated all trading fees from the token to the biologists' research. As a result, the project raised $100,000, extending its operations by another year.
βI am completely amazed that this internet culture, which I know almost nothing about, raised so much money. It is both surprising and shocking,β said one of the project leaders, Julien Marten.
He explained that he initially thought it was a scam. Marten also acknowledged that while funds from OnlyFans and the memecoin will allow the project to continue studying marmots for now, this is not an adequate replacement for standard government funding.
βOf course, we were lucky, and we might get even luckier if the memecoin performs even better, but I understand that this is not for everyone. It worked for us because we were the first,β he said. | 1 503 |
| 5 | 18 years ago, the domain of the first website about Bitcoin, Bitcoin(.)org, was registered
On August 18, 2008, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, known as Satoshi Nakamoto, together with developer Martti Malmi, registered the domain Bitcoin(.)org. From 2011 to 2013, this site was used as the main resource for publishing new releases of the Bitcoin Core software.
This happened a few months before the publication of the Bitcoin technical document (white paper) on October 31, 2008. The network itself was launched on January 3, 2009.
In the early versions of the site, several paragraphs describing the project were published, along with links and recommendations for installing Bitcoin software.
Unlike most cryptocurrencies on the market, Bitcoin has never had and still does not have an official internet resource. Bitcoin(.)org has always been just one of many projects owned and managed by members of the Bitcoin community, not by official development teams.
When Satoshi Nakamoto left the Bitcoin development project in 2011, ownership of the domain was transferred to early community members. The project is independent and open source, supported by various developers from around the world. | 1 486 |

| 7 | Tether has undergone its first full financial audit by KPMG
Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, announced the completion of its first full audit of financial statements. The audit was conducted by the American firm KPMG, one of the "Big Four" largest audit firms.
KPMG issued an unqualified audit opinion to Tether, confirming that the company's financial statements for 2025 fairly present its financial position in all material respects in accordance with US GAAP (United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
As part of the review, auditors examined the company's assets, liabilities, transactions, internal systems, and supporting documentation. Tether also stated that KPMG conducted a physical inspection of all gold bars owned by the company, rather than relying solely on documents from custodians.
As of the end of 2025, Tether's assets exceeded its liabilities by $6.8 billion. The company stated that completing the full audit fulfilled one of its long-standing promises to increase transparency. | 1 456 |

| 12 | Bitfinex: Long-term holders of $BTC continued to add to their positions even as the price fell from $82,000 to below $58,000.
The pace of buying slowed alongside the volume of sales: 40,000 BTC were sold at the end of May, compared to 14,000 at the end of July.

| 13 | About 100 crypto projects shut down in 2026 π
Since the beginning of 2026, about 100 crypto projects have ceased operations, and just in July, several major platforms announced their closure. The negative wave affected all layers of the industry: from exchange veterans to DeFi protocols. π
In July, the legendary exchange BitMEX also announced its closure, having played a key role in popularizing perpetual futures and operating since 2014. π
Almost simultaneously, BitMart, which existed for almost ten years, and EXMO, founded in 2014, announced the cessation of their operations. π’ | 2 056 |

| 15 | Sentiment:
π§ The ratio of positive to negative comments about Ethereum on platforms like X, Reddit, Telegram, and other crypto communities has shifted into the "bearish" zone for the third time this month. At first glance, this looks alarming, however, for $ETH such crowd disappointment amid price drops has repeatedly become a signal to buy on the dip.
π Following the two previous similar sentiment drops, reflected on the chart, ETH price bounces of 14% and 7% followed. Although the ETH price is still under pressure around $1860, demand from institutional ETFs (hidden from a superficial view) shows signs of growth.
π‘ The "bullish" takeaway here is not that negative sentiment guarantees an instant market reversal. The point is that when traders loudly declare disappointment in Ethereum, while inflows into ETFs, activity in Layer 2 (L2) networks, and protocol updates continue, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap often gets favorable conditions for a reversal β even before the majority sentiment becomes positive again. | 1 948 |
| 16 | $BTC holders' losses this cycle topped 2022 levels by 19%. Selling pressure has dropped 56.5% since then.

| 18 | Circle announces launch of its own wrapped Bitcoin, cirBTC
Circle, the company behind the USDC stablecoin, will issue a token called cirBTC β its own version of wrapped Bitcoin, a tokenized form of Bitcoin designed for use on other blockchains.
Circle plans to promote cirBTC as the "institutional standard" for tokenized Bitcoin.
The initial launch is planned for the Ethereum network, as well as Circle's own blockchain, Arc. The token will be integrated with the company's infrastructure, including the Circle Mint platform for issuing and redeeming stablecoins.
The first and largest version of wrapped Bitcoin, wBTC, was launched by BitGo in 2019 and is now managed by a consortium that includes entities associated with Justin Sun. Due to his involvement, some companies have delisted the token β for example, Coinbase conducted a delisting of wBTC in 2024. | 6 199 |
