had an interesting conversation today about youths and decreasing alcohol consumption anecdote: friend went clubbing and most of the youths on the dance floor rejected alcohol, choosing to club sober quick google search suggests that the trend has been ongoing globally for sometime since early 2000s, from boomers to millenials to gen Zs i do feel that the trend of youths consuming lesser alcohol was made more prominent post-covid here are some reasons cited: 1. health & wellness 2. financial aspects 3. alternative substances (not applicable in singapore) personally resonate with points 1 & 2 and Singapore's nightlife has been slowly dying out as a result of costs and policies related: https://t.me/humblespace/760 reads: • https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/lifestyle-culture/article/3344930/asias-gen-z-go-sober-alcohol-producers-and-bars-revamp-business-modelhttps://movendi.ngo/news-stories/asias-gen-z-drives-alcohol-norm-shift-as-industry-scrambles-to-adapt/https://www.straitstimes.com/life/a-waste-of-money-and-time-gen-z-and-millennials-are-over-traditional-nightlife

I think social media has made this difference even easier to miss. Knowledge has become another aesthetic. Books become decorations before they become companions. Quotes travel farther than reflection. Reading lists grow faster than understanding. There is nothing wrong with sharing what you’re learning. I love seeing people excited about ideas. The strange part begins when looking thoughtful becomes more important than actually thinking.
