There was a reason that, before a man married a woman, his family would conduct a background check to determine whether she was worthy of being called a wife. A woman’s sexual history, character, upbringing, discipline & family background mattered because marriage was never viewed as a private arrangement between two individuals. Her character could affect the stability of the marriage, the way children were raised & the reputation of both families. Marriage was the union of two families, not just two people. No respectable family wanted their son bringing home a woman known for promiscuity, poor character, entitlement, or a lack of proper upbringing. This scrutiny existed because marriage wasn't supposed to be a one-day celebration. It was a lifelong bond that connected families, shaped generations & carried consequences far beyond the couple. Modern society threw many of those standards away & replaced them with "love is all that matters." Now look at the mess. And honestly, my biggest sympathy goes to modern men who haven't married yet. You're entering a dating market where you have to navigate broken families, unresolved pasts, inflated expectations & people who were never prepared for the responsibilities of marriage. I genuinely pity you all. Choose carefully. The woman you marry doesn't just become your wife. She becomes part of your family history.
