I have one more tapestry available which is my fire cross, or “ugunskrusts.” This is actually one of the oldest variations of the swastika ever found (estimated 15,000 years old) and you’ll find plenty of them in Latvian handcrafts. The ugunskrusts represents Latvian cultural identity and is seen as a talisman for well-being and protection against evil. I’m going to be making mini tapestries / wall-hangings like the one featured above which will be available for purchase in the near future. I’ve been drawing up patterns that feature our cultural symbols and will offer these in a variety of styles and colors.
I’ve never sold any work before so this will definitely be an interesting experiment, but I’m looking forward to it. These are one of my favorite things to make and I’ve been gifting them to people for years.
Right now, I’m working on my inventory and hoping to be able to share the official release some time this winter.
