Yes, this might actually be my first politics book. It’s taken me a whole month to get through it (mostly reading it during my morning taxi rides) tbh I get bored sometimes and feel like my dad every time I open it in the taxi 😂.fr Anyway, here are some quotes and note read for more context 1. “Democracy is like a tram you ride it until you arrive at your destination, then you step off.” (Page 120) 🥲 2. “We are the people who are you?” (Page 127) 3. “A strongman who claims to represent the people may well rise to power through democratic means, yet often rules behind a democratic façade.” (Page 130) 4. “To hold a conversation, it isn’t enough to have the freedom to talk and the ability to listen. There are also technical preconditions: first, people need to be within hearing range of each other; second, they need at least a basic understanding of what they’re talking about otherwise, it’s just noise.” (Page 136) 5. “If history had been shaped solely by materials, interests, and power, there would be no point in talking to people who disagree with us.”(Page 48) It also dives deep into bureaucracy and how it shapes power structures. Ngl I really want to finish it soon, but I keep getting lost sometimes. Guess I need to spend a whole day in the taxi to make that happen 😭.... Part 2 will cont....

That’s what Tesla saw. A world powered by shared energy and knowledge. But the tragedy of his story lies in how far ahead he was. He saw things the world wasn’t ready to understand. That loneliness the space between a visionary and the society that can’t yet see what he sees makes his life both beautiful and heartbreaking. Despite his brilliance, Tesla was often exploited. He worked under Edison, was promised rewards he never received, and later lost funding from powerful investors who couldn’t see the value in his vision. Even after his death, the government seized his notes a haunting end for a man who dreamed of lighting up the world. Reading his words feels like seeing the world through the eyes of someone who lived in the future but was trapped in the wrong century #Bookreview
