Hardware wallet maker Trezor has warned customers twice in under two months about data breaches β both times through third-party vendors, not Trezor's own systems.
The latest: hackers hit Brevo, a marketing platform, and sent ~347,000 phishing emails titled "Critical Security Alert." The link leads to a fake app requesting your wallet recovery phrase β share it and the funds are irreversibly gone.
Before that, logistics partner ShipMonk leaked names, phones, and home addresses of 81,000 customers. Some have since received physical mail with phishing QR codes. Physical addresses also raise the risk of "wrench attacks" β extracting passwords by force.
The wallets are untouched. As TechCrunch notes: a solid product held β its ecosystem didn't.

π€ Waymo just called the cops on its passengers β again
Waymo's robotaxi is not merely a car without a driver. It's a car without a driver that watches what you do in the back seat.
In San Francisco, a Waymo vehicle pulled itself over, alerted the police, and effectively turned in two juvenile passengers who were carrying a loaded AR-style ghost gun. Both were taken to juvenile hall.
A spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times that the onboard system detected a "violation of our terms of service involving a firearm" β at which point the car made its own call. Literally.
What makes this especially curious: it's the second time this year. Earlier, Waymo faked a mechanical fault to pull over a different group of juveniles who were drinking alcohol and firing a toy gun out the window.
The robotaxi, it turns out, is the worst getaway driver imaginable.

π Tesla Roadster: eight years later
Tesla has officially announced an October 1st reveal for the second-gen Roadster. The company posted a simple "Go for launch" on X Saturday, with a "10.01" graphic β and not much else. The car was first teased back in November 2017, survived countless delays, a very public feud when OpenAI's Sam Altman complained about waiting 7.5 years after dropping a $50,000 reservation deposit, and according to The Information, a complete design overhaul β the 2017 version was scrapped entirely.
The graphic hints at SpaceX cold gas thrusters β an optional system supposedly letting the Roadster briefly leave the ground. Musk's definition of "optional" has always been generous.
One small footnote: Musk himself has said production won't begin until 12β18 months after the reveal. So October 1st is the show. The car in your garage is a 2027 problem.

Kraken is one of the world's largest crypto exchanges. Its parent Payward has been collecting checks from traditional finance fast: Deutsche BΓΆrse put in $200M in April, now Nasdaq's venture arm adds $100M β valuing Payward at $21 billion.
The deal has Kraken listing tokenized Nasdaq stocks on its own platform. A legacy exchange paying a crypto venue to become its storefront β not a sentence that would have made sense two years ago.

Eigen Labs ran an open competition called ECDSA.Fail: 100+ participants working with AI agents optimized a quantum circuit targeting
secp256k1, the elliptic curve securing transactions on Bitcoin and Ethereum. The resource score fell from 10.75 billion to 1.496 billion β 86% in two months.
Caveat: no real private key was cracked, and full hardware costs weren't counted. Still, NIST has already proposed banning classical encryption algorithms after 2035.

Forty-eight years, and somehow this never happened before.
*Star Wars: A New Hope* β the film that reinvented the blockbuster on May 25, 1977 β is getting its first-ever IMAX release, timed to the franchise's 50th anniversary.
Select venues with 70mm projectors will screen a restored original print: no Episode IV subtitle, no Special Edition tweaks. Other IMAX theatres also get the film, though which cut is still unclear.

πΈ $340M bitcoin heist β and most of it came back
Liquid Network is a settlement layer built by Blockstream in 2018, connecting several major crypto exchanges under one roof. Over the weekend, a hacker exploited a bug to drain roughly 4,000 BTC β about $340 million β making it one of the largest crypto thefts of the year, per the Rekt leaderboard.
Then the plot twisted. The hacker offered a deal: fix the bug, get the coins back. Blockstream fixed it. Around 3,400 BTC were returned β the remaining ~600 BTC (~$47M) are still with the hacker, and the network stays paused while additional security work is completed.
A white-hat heist, live-streamed negotiations, and 600 bitcoins quietly kept as a consulting fee. The cheapest security audit in history this was not.

$79,281 a coin, bringing the total to 24,531 BTC (~$1.9 billion). Three weeks straight of 5%-plus weekly growth.
Seventy percent of the capital came through SATA β preferred stock paying 13% annually, now at $999 million notional. CEO Matt Cole: "Time to break the billion-dollar wall."
The risk is real. Strategy's equivalent fell below face value this year, forcing it to sell Bitcoin for the first time since 2022 to cover dividends. SATA has held β but hasn't faced pressure like that yet, per Decrypt.

In AtizapΓ‘n de Zaragoza, Mexico, four people were killed β Jonathan MelΓ©ndez, keyboardist for rock band Camilo SΓ©ptimo, his pregnant wife, their daughter, and an employee. The alleged motive: attackers believed the family owned a cold wallet holding millions in Bitcoin.
Two suspects are in custody; one was a business associate of the victim who used that relationship to get inside the home. A court hearing Wednesday will determine whether the case proceeds β each man faces 25 to 70 years per victim if convicted.
CertiK counted 52 physical attacks on crypto holders worldwide in H1 2026, up 33% year-on-year, with Chainalysis estimating over
$30M stolen through such attacks in that period alone, per La Jornada.
A cold wallet protects against hackers. Former business partners, apparently, are a different threat model.

Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain run by Blockstream, lost 4,000 BTC (~$320M) last weekend after a bug let attackers mint unbacked L-BTC tokens and swap them for real reserve Bitcoin.
The attackers called themselves white-hat researchers on-chain, then returned 3,400 BTC on Monday. The remaining ~
598 BTC β around $47M β is subject to ongoing negotiations, terms undisclosed.
Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet wasn't convinced:
