IELTS 8+ is not hard at all, in reality. As long as you are consistent in using English daily for your daily feed and output, you're good to go. That would feel like as if you're taking IELTS as a native prepared student at the end of the day, which will guarantee you 8+, obviously.    I also did commute multiple courses every single day forth and back for hours, read books dedicated for listening—can you imagine reading a thing to improve your listening?—watched hundreds of videos on improving reading, ielts advantage YT, and read books for speaking, speaking samples by Kiran Makkar or something, just to get 6.5. Whole English content I consumed was solely limited to preparation for IELTS, except for lectures and podcasts.    Nevertheless, I kept on practicing, signed up for speaking courses online, bought reading marathons, attended writing classes, and even bought speaking samples. Well, they did have benefits: I got to find a partner to speak with daily in English, which fostered my discipline overtime. I stayed consistent on my practices, writing one task1, one task2, solving three passages, one listening full practice, and hours of talking with my partner, and finally analyzing minute mistakes I made from all of these above. There was no way if this isn't gonna work after I done it for 4 months, every single day nonstop. Well, it worked, at least I got to hit that 8 with 7.75.  And this was the wrong way. I don't think anyone should practice for IELTS the way most nonnative people do. It's just a test after all. My English is 100 percent way better compared to when I was practicing for it intensely. That's simply because I leveraged English in my own life. What I search online is in English, certainly because there is more resource and access to quality data online only in that language, YouTube videos and movies I watch, gripped by them, are all in English, novels and interesting articles I read with full engagement are all in English. Now, at this point, I'm not saying you totally avoid practicing or learning it by books. Learning the basics is a crucial and fundamental action most must take when stepping on learning a new language. Preparing for any type of test requires a different approach to given questions, which can be challenging enough, in the case of the SAT, for example - you may have IELTS 9, but if you're not adopted to the SAT format questions, you're not going to hit above 550/800 - test taking skills do play a momentous role. What I am saying is English shouldn't be the goal, like I thought IELTS was the only thing I should strive for. Little did I realize, there's a bigger picture than that. Beside my goals and milestones, English is just the bare minimum thing.   So, if you're learning English or preparing for IELTS, I ask you to stop simping for either of them. Yes, you will need English in your future field. Learn it with passion, have whole another purpose for learning it. As in my case, I dived into the world of science and neurology and learned an ocen of what I enjoyed learning from podcasts and lectures of Andrew Huberman, philosophy, and numerous other topics with Lex Fridman, Chris Williamson, etc. I watched Breaking Bad, The Game of Thrones, and tons of other movies in their original language. Sometimes I'd be immersed with Mr. Beast's challenges on YouTube with my lil brother. I read books about business and finance, started reading novels by 18th-19th century novelists. I write things daily and talk with my friends in English daily. I don't do/did all of these for the sake of English or IELTS, but for myself. Although, practice is required to get used to the style of any test you are preparing for. More practice means, more professionalism. But don't forget to leverage anything you learn in your life. Just like we try to activate those passive vocabularies we learned from a list of new words long ago.
