I'll give my two cents on something else now before I bug out. Let's stop putting people on a pedestal, please. Yes, some people are amazing, some people are doing amazing at such an early age, some people are earning shit ton of money. Okay, admire, applaud, appreciate, and move on. I know it takes conscious effort, but their life is their life, and your life is yours. Take what you can learn/ get from them and move on, don't obsess or think too much about them to the point you wake up and feel bad for yourself for not being like them.

Alright, onto the less important stuff:

Mini-vent (-ish): I can count the best decisions I made as a freshman on one hand. The first one was letting go of my overly competitive mindset and realizing that your journey is yours. This realization took over a year, a lot of unlearning and reality checks, but it remains the best thing I did. The second is applying and joining Shapers. It wouldn't be a lie to say I was looking into communities I could join that felt warm yet inspiring at the same time the moment I turned 18, and Shapers was the perfect fit. For beginners, the amount of opportunities/ insights I'm getting from the people there is INSANE. Then there's the fact that if you truly want to be involved in a supportive space, this is it. And the friendships you develop, Chef's kiss. All of this is to say, if you're someone who's into creating social impact and who's ready to be among inspiring people, do apply.

My point here is, 1. If nothing, A2SV has given hope to young people in Tech that there's a way of succeeding. Will the journey be typically harder for the average booksmart kid? Yes. Will they at least know that there are better ways of doing this, and that they have the chance to get there? Yes. 2. If a local solution is going to pounce from this, it won't have to start from zero. I'm talking about on-campus clubs, mentor-student relationships, even something similar to A2SV. Now, will these be as effective and have dedicated people as Emre? probably not. Look, I can see that losing A2SV is a massive blow to the tech community here. I'm trying to say it's not completely hopeless (trying to convince myself here as much as you guys ngl) as it's looking like.
