We are pleased to introduce Fatuma Mohammed Ibrahim, Founder and Executive Director of HERCHILD AFRICA Initiative.
Fatuma is a Afro feminist, human rights advocate, and women's and children's rights defender. Her work focuses on gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence, child protection, women's leadership, and social policy advocacy.
With an academic background in International Relations and Global Studies, she is passionate about advancing women's participation in leadership, amplifying marginalized voices, and strengthening advocacy for social justice across Africa.
Through HERCHILD AFRICA Initiative, she is committed to building a platform that champions the rights, dignity, protection, and empowerment of women, girls, and children.

Today, HERCHILD AFRICA Initiative joins the continent in commemorating African Human Rights Day and reflecting on 40 years of the African Charter on Human and Peoplesβ Rights.
But as we celebrate this milestone, we must ask:
Can we speak of African human rights without speaking about the rights, dignity and safety of African women and girls?
Across Africa, particularly in Eastern Africa, violence against women and girls, harmful practices, conflict and barriers to justice remain pressing concerns.
Our commitments must translate into real protection, justice, resources and action.
We envision an Africa where every woman and girl can live free from violence, discrimination and fear.
