I've been a pixlr user for a while now Well today I just learned that its all just a <canvas>. Its like they took something extremely flexible and molded it... and then that molded my mental model of how I edited images. I've accepted it as a given without ever questioning it for years now. The key lesson here is that I can make my own <canvas> with my own rules. There are no rules.

Image gen is so addictive 🫠 And I'm not even half decent at it It fails a lot to capture what I have in mind and that makes me want to create my own art. And I think this will be the case for most people as well. > people start using image gen models > the models stimulate their imagination > ai fails to fully capture their vision > people learn how to create art ✨ Whose building the ai that teaches people how to "art"

How did I miss this gem

#friday has come again 😋

Timeline so far - Monday: Built the API layer - Tuesday: Switch to Cloudflare for Videos and Images - Today: Added Support for Video Generation Models #buildinpublic

Man I love infrastructure so much 🫠 I am looking at Cloudflare's docs and everything is just so beautifully crafted. The clarity feels so good! They have won we over completely

Working on this literally validated my current project. Most of the time 99% (4+ hours) was wasted on getting used to the new deno console plus the model apis quirks.... My new app eliminates all of this, had I been using my own service I would've finished the bot in <45 mins with sora 2 support and many other generative media features That's why this week I'll try to make the API work and on Friday I'll build the bot on my own infra!

Right now most of AI Video is brainrot However, as soon as the tools mature, it will be pure entertainment (higher quality than tiktok could ever dream of) Think endless funny and amazing fan made spin offs or scenarios involving your favorite tv shows, authors, philosophers and characters It's coming

While coding I can't help but think about what Karpathy said. When it comes time to write code, all your abstractions fall apart. Talk is a cheap token. It never converts well into action. The most expensive token is experience Always Always Always get your hands dirty in the nitty gritty Only by building it from scratch can you understand it And the funny thing is that when your abstractions collapse which they always do you just throw your hands in the air and say "its too complicated", "i tried" The Joy of suffering >> >> The Joy of acquiring expensive tokens and saying yes I earned this with my own inference

here's the bot @the_image_gen_bot Unfortunately no sora 2 I spent a lot of time trying to make it work with deno but it just didn't. But it's fine, I'll build it with a different stack next friday

Who wants Sora in their group chat 🤭

Its #friday. Let us relax, chill and build something cool. Project for today. A simple bot that will let users generate image
