Run from what's comfortable. Forget safety. Live where you fear to live. Destroy your reputation. Be notorious. I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now on I'll be mad.Rumi

The period from June to November is often the most underutilized phase of UPSC preparation. Many aspirants spend these months collecting resources, changing strategies, and delaying serious Mains preparation.
During Prelims, many of you found our approach of daily targets, note-making schedules, and PYQ-based approach helpful in maintaining consistency.
Would you like us to start a similar initiative for Mains?
A structured plan with daily targets, note-making, PYQ answer writing, and integration can help make the most of this crucial window.
If enough aspirants are interested, we can begin soon.

A Daily Non-Negotiable System
Every day:
7–10 hours study
1 hour exercise
30 minutes meditation/prayer/journaling
30 minutes social media
No matter how motivated or unmotivated you feel.
UPSC is won by systems, not moods.

Every day matters so much you can't waste days
If you waste days, you waste your life
You get up late, you get distracted
You get unmotivated, today ends tomorrow starts
Then you repeat and repeat and repeat and every day you look in the mirror and hate how time has passed, how little you've done, how your life has stayed the same
You can do so much in a day, you can't do everything but you can do one thing, or a few things-that truly matter and truly move things forward
Every day should be viewed as a glorious opportunity, a full life, a gift that can't be forgotten
Break the loop
Use your days in full
You wont even realise with a blink you will find yourself in january

Comrades now that Prelims is over, and
Mains is a completely different ballgame and demands a different approach. Unlike Prelims, Mains has a clearly defined syllabus.
Most of you probably already have it, but I would still strongly recommend printing it out and putting it up on your wall. It helps you stay focused on what actually needs to be studied and prevents unnecessary distractions.
Personally, I recommend to focus on Mains preparation until December and then switch completely to Prelims from January onwards. Of course, if you feel you need more time for mains, you can adjust the timeline accordingly.
Now, I would love to hear from the UPSC Cafe community:
• How are you planning to approach your preparation ?
• What’s your answer-writing strategy?
• How are you managing note-making ?
• Any lessons from your previous Mains attempts those who have appeared earlier ?
Drop your suggestions and strategies in the comments. It will help everyone learn from each other’s experiences.

Unpopular opinion:
UPSC doesn’t just reject the unprepared.
Every year, it also rejects thousands of hardworking, intelligent and deserving people.
That’s what makes this exam brutal.

Stop trying to convince them with your words. They've already decided who you are. Let your results do the talking.
