--- Variables in Python serve as containers for storing data values. Unlike some programming languages, Python does not require a specific command to declare a variable. Instead, a variable is created simply by assigning it a value. For instance:
x = 5
y = "john"
print(x)
print(y)
To determine the data type of a variable, you can use the type() function:
x = 5
y = "john"
print(type(x))
print(type(y))
In Python, string variables can be declared using either single or double quotes. ### Variable Names Python variable names can be short (like x and y) or more descriptive (such as age, carname, total_volume). They must adhere to these rules: - Must start with a letter or underscore (_) - Cannot start with a number - Can only contain alphanumeric characters and underscores (A-z, 0-9, and _) - Are case-sensitive (age, Age, and AGE are treated as different variables) ### Multiple Variables Python allows you to assign values to multiple variables in a single line:
x, y, z = "orange", "banana", "cherry"
print(x)
print(y)
print(z)
You can also assign the same value to multiple variables:
x = y = z = "orange"
print(x)
print(y)
print(z)
### Outputting Variables For outputting variables in Python, the print statement is frequently used. To combine text with variables, you can use the + character. For example:
x = "awesome"
print("Python is " + x)
