If youβre looking for a hotel you wonβt want to leave at all, we recommend taking a closer look at Marriott Resort and Spa on Nai Yang Beach.
This is a stunning 5-star hotel with a large, lush, and beautifully maintained property. It is very peaceful here: the hotel is located away from busy streets, so even during high season, it never feels crowded.
Even the beach here feels private, with fine white sand. The tides are quite noticeable, but the sea remains calm even during the rainy season π
Guests can use kayaks and SUP boards free of charge, and you can also rent a bicycle and explore Sirinat National Park π²
And, of course, a special mention goes to the rooms. They are truly luxurious: incredibly soft beds, beautiful bathrooms, and plenty of space. There are rooms with direct pool access, spacious terraces, and even private villas.
The hotel has everything you need for a complete and relaxing stay: a huge swimming pool, spa, gym, childrenβs play area, restaurants, and bars.
Breakfast at The Andaman Kitchen is an experience in itself: fresh fruit, pastries, meat and seafood delicacies, cheeses π§ The selection is so extensive that youβll want to try something new every day. You can also have lunch or dinner here, choosing from international and local cuisine.
For grilled seafood, head to Big Fish, a restaurant overlooking the Andaman Sea π And Mamaβs Kitchen is located right by the shore and serves local dishes in a more relaxed atmosphere.
What we especially loved, though, is that there is always something happening at the hotel. There are various activities for both children and adults, marshmallows are roasted on the beach in the evenings, movie screenings are organized, and you can even learn how to make signature cocktails with a professional mixologist πΈ

While walking around Phuket Old Town, many of you have probably noticed Coffee Talk coffee shop with a vintage car at the entrance. But not everyone knows that, besides coffee, there is also an interesting museum waiting for you inside.
Thavorn Phuket Museum is a real time machine: it houses more than 1,000 different items that tell the story of the island. Among the exhibits are equipment from the tin mining era, old telephones, coins, toys, and clothing from the middle of the last century. Some of the most unusual exhibits are vintage film projectors from Phuketβs first cinema. You can also see everyday objects once used by Chinese-Phuket families, including traditional wedding jewelry, beaded shoes, and antique tableware.
In the 1950s, the island looked completely different: its economy was closely connected to tin mining and rubber production. At that time, Phuket had not even begun to dream of becoming a world-famous tourist destination. It was then that the Thavornwongwongse family made a rather bold bet on tourism.
The founder of the familyβs hotel business, Tilok Thavornwongwongse, made his fortune from tin mining and then decided to invest the money in creating Thavorn Hotel, which was far ahead of its time.
To this day, the Thavorn family owns numerous businesses in Phuket, including hotels, restaurants, cafes, spas, museums, wedding venues, and also runs coral conservation projects.
Admission to Thavorn Phuket Museum costs 200 baht, and the museum is located in the very building that housed the Thavorn familyβs first hotel. It is a very interesting place for anyone who wants to learn more about Phuket.

Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town is one of those hotels that is worth choosing not so much for a beach holiday, but for its convenient location. Itβs an ideal option for a weekend as part of a combined trip. Especially if you want to explore Phuket Old Town while staying at an international hotel chain with good service.
The hotel is about 500 meters from the Old Town. You can leave your car or bike and explore the area on foot: along the way, youβll find historic buildings, unusual cafes, bars, and small local spots. On Sundays, the famous Sunday Market takes place here β an authentic night market π
There are also plenty of places to go in the evening β Phuket Old Town is home to quite a few interesting bars with a more laid-back (but not boring) and atmospheric nightlife than Bangla Road. Check out our video about it πΈ
The hotel itself is also well suited for a family trip. There is a swimming pool, kidsβ club, gym, and family rooms with a kitchen. Breakfasts and dinners are served at Krua Talad Yai, a European cuisine restaurant π
Our separate recommendation is YUE, an authentic Chinese restaurant π₯‘, and especially the Peking duck!
Another plus is that Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town regularly hosts events, concerts, and other activities. You definitely wonβt be bored!
We chose this hotel for a short city weekend: itβs perfect to arrive on Friday, spend the evening exploring the bars of the Old Town, go for a walk and photo tour on Saturday (check out our post), and leave Sunday for the market. August is still considered the low season in Phuket, but that doesnβt mean you shouldnβt plan a vacation on the island.
During this time, tropical downpours, cloudy days, and rough seas are still common. On the other hand, nature is at its most vibrant, waterfalls are full and powerful, and hotel prices are significantly lower β sometimes up to 50% cheaper.
π‘ Temperature
The average daytime temperature is around +31Β°C, while nighttime temperatures average +25Β°C. The sea temperature stays at about +29Β°C.
August is often breezy, making the heat much more comfortable than during the high season.
βοΈ Sunny and Cloudy Days
On average, August has about 15 cloudy days, 11 partly cloudy days, and 5 completely sunny days.
As in other low-season months, the weather in Phuket changes quickly. It may rain heavily in the morning, and just a couple of hours later the sun can be shining again.
βοΈEven if the sky is overcast, UV radiation remains very strong. Be sure to use SPF sunscreen β you can still tan or even get sunburned without bright sunshine.
π§ Rain
On average, there are about 16 rainy days in August. Monthly rainfall averages 250β350 mm.
The rain usually comes in the form of short but intense tropical showers, after which the sun often returns.
If you're planning a trip in August, it's best to stay for at least 10β14 days. That way, you'll have a much better chance of experiencing different weather conditions and enjoying more sunny days.
π The Sea
In August, most beaches on Phuketβs west coast β including Kata, Karon, Patong, Bang Tao, Kamala, Mai Khao, and others β often experience large waves and dangerous rip currents.
Always pay attention to red warning flags and swim only on beaches where lifeguards are on duty.
If you're looking for the calmest sea conditions, choose Ao Yon, Tri Trang, Nai Yang, or Paradise Beach.

Cape Krathing

Cape Krathing is a wild cape with a stunning panoramic view of the Andaman Sea. Itβs a great place to watch the sunset and take Instagram-worthy photos.
Itβs not the most touristy spot, but itβs popular with locals, and getting there requires a short hike.
There are two main routes.
The first one starts through the Dragon campsite, near the Black Rock viewpoint. Youβll need a 4WD vehicle or use the services of locals at the turnoff from the main road. From there, the trail begins with a steep descent down the hillside using a rope (with an elevation change of about 300 meters). Add the blazing sun and the lack of shade, and youβve got the most challenging section of the route.
The second route is longer but easier, and itβs the one we recommend. Drive to the Baan Krating Hotel, walk along the fence to the beach, and join the trail that follows the hillside. The path is well-trodden, there are no major elevation changes, and by late afternoon most of the route is shaded.
πPro tip: you can drive into the hotel grounds. Parking costs 300 baht for a car and 100 baht for a motorbike, but this amount can be used as a credit at the cafe. Youβll be able to park much closer, shorten the hike, and bring cold drinks with you. By the way, the hotel has its own beach, where the waves are smaller than at Nai Harn Beach.
βοΈAn important note: if youβve never been hiking before and donβt enjoy challenging trails, this route may be harder than it looks in the photos.
Weβre from Siberia (well-prepared people!), and we completed the hike with two children aged 10 and 4. For us, it was quite an easy walk, but the tourists we met didnβt agree. It seemed like they never made it to the end of the trail π
We recommend bringing:
πcomfortable closed-toe shoes (flip-flops are not suitable);

πa hat and SPF sunscreen;

This is one of the most famous hotels on Karon Beach, but it was our first time staying here β and hereβs our honest review ππΌ
β«οΈFirst of all, this is the only hotel on Karon Beach that is truly located right on the beach π Not across the road, not βtechnically beachfront.β Here, you literally step out of the pool and within a few steps find yourself at the shoreline π
β«οΈSecondly, thanks to its location in the northern part of Karon, the atmosphere is much quieter than in the center of the beach. It feels like a secluded resort while still being close to restaurants, shops, and all the necessary infrastructure.
The hotel grounds are lush, beautifully maintained, and designed in a Sino-Portuguese architectural style that reflects Phuketβs cultural heritage, creating a very photogenic and cohesive atmosphere.
The resort is an excellent choice for families with children β a definite advantage in our opinion ππ» There is a large water zone with slides and a lazy river, and even the opportunity to jump from a cliff into a deep pool (something weβve never seen anywhere else). Thereβs also a fantastic kidsβ club, a playground for younger children, and a gaming club with PS5 consoles for older kids.
If youβre traveling without children and looking for a more peaceful experience, there is a beautiful adults-only pool with a bar serving cocktails on floating trays.
The rooms are stunning, with breathtaking sea views. Some categories even feature private pools or jacuzzis.
The hotel offers a Day Pass program, allowing guests to enjoy all resort facilities without staying overnight. The price is 1,500 THB per adult (including a 1,000 THB credit for restaurants, bars, and the spa), while children under 12 are free of charge.
There are several restaurants on the property, including COAST Beach Club, known for its atmospheric Italian-style brunches π
The next Roman cuisine brunch will take place on July 19, with prices starting from 1,590 THB.
