I am no perfect soul in faith’s pure light, I know
yet poems still arrive, like whispers soft and low.
The sufferer’s pain may linger, unrelieved, ungone,
but if you stand before me, a gentle calm is drawn.
"KHALIFA"
Let those complain who had great expectations of you
as for me, I never truly trusted you anyway.
"KHALIFA"
One who weeps at the first light of dawn is, in truth, a mourner of the stars.
"KHALIFA"
If I do not return after meeting her, then understand
darkness has ended, and I have been embraced by light.
"KHALIFA"
May the souls undone in seeking you be granted gentle sleep,
Come, rest a while let even your wandering steps fall into sleep.
If one remains awake, unrest binds both in its chain,
If one surrenders to sleep, let peace descend on both the same.
Come into union till even the whisper of parting is no more,
Then let us sleep so deeply, as if to repay years we lost before.
"KHALIFA"
May those worn by the search for you finally find their rest,
Sit for a while let even your footsteps find their rest.
If one stays awake, unrest grips both alike,
If one falls asleep, may both find their rest alike.
Let union come, so even the name of separation fades away,
Then let us sleep so long that years of lost rest are repaid.
"KHALIFA"
Even the lines on my hands have worn away like dust in rain,
since I lost you, I carry nothing but an endless, hollow pain.
"KHALIFA"
I came before my God, intoxicated, and broke into tears,
And through my weeping whispered “Lift the veil appear.”
"KHALIFA"
Do those who offer comfort truly understand?
I have not merely lost one person I have lost an entire universe.
"KHALIFA"
I wish to whirl with my head bowed in the dust of devotion,
for this very soil holds honor beyond the stars.
"KHALIFA"
In my starforging eyes, your sorrow dwells within me,
It burns bright, it overflows yet feels like poison to me.
In your eyes glows the healing of my wounded heart,
And in your hands lies the balm for all my grief apart.
'KHALIFA"
With the longing of your eyes, can I ever turn away?
Impossible like turning dust into a star, they say
Such a famine of love has spread across this world wide,
Even a little they give, I would survive on it inside
"KHALIFA"
Be proud of the scars only you know You survived something that nobody saw.
"KHALIFA"
In the courtyard of the sacred shrine, alongside prayers and devotions,
the ascetic too was walkin side by side with a courtesan.
"KHALIFA"
Do not seek loyalty or constancy from this unreliable world
for it is like an old woman who has been the bride of a thousand husbands.
"HAFIZ SHIRAZI"
The heart is no servant of existence;
it beats by its own will,
even when life demands surrender.
"KHALIFA"
When the great general loses a battle, he declares the battle was fake news.
Thus he remains undefeated.

How much blood must be spilled,
how many lives erased,
just to sell weapons?
