This is the only fiddle in the world made entirely out of cypress from my native Louisiana. I met an old woodworker who shared it with me. He told me a few yrs back a 10 yr old boy won the La. State fiddle competition with this fiddle. He lives in West Monroe,La. and worked with the Duck Dynasty crew for their duck calls. He explained to them that cypress would be best for duck calls since the grain is so close. He then got the idea to make a fiddle entirely out of cypress which had never been done.
