Hi.. Here are a few things to keep in mind with respect to prelims. 1. Prepare your mind for surprises. Don't be troubled if you see some or many bouncer questions in the exam. Everyone will be getting same questions but those facing the paper without getting troubled will be doing better. 2. Time management: Most of us do not face time crunch while solving mocks but the real exam is somewhat different. Keep track of time, even in GS paper. I repeat, time is of essence. 3. Don't worry if you have missed some topics, some revisions. everyone does. The cut off for the last few years has been less than 50% of the maximum marks. 4. Trust yourself. Trust yourself. Those 2 hours are your hours. Whatever you have prepared so far will be of use, only if you give your best in those 2 hours. Promise yourself to be your best in those hours. Checklist for Prelims Exam 1. Admit Card: Try to carry 2 copies 2. Original Photo Identity Card:. Kindly note that the Identity Card should be same, whose number is mentioned in the e-Admit Card and it should be original, not a Xerox copy. 3. Black Ball Point Pen: Your answers will not be evaluated if you use some other colored pen for filling OMR or attendance sheet. 4. Simple wrist watch: Avoid smartwatch or fancy digital watch. 4. Cash: Smaller denomination. Helps in paying for depositing Mobile Phone, bag, procuring Snacks, bus fare etc. 5. Water bottle and snacks: Prefer a transparent water bottle. UPSC released CSE Prelims admit cards on 13 May 2025, ahead of schedule, to put a full stop to all the speculations regarding postponement of the exam. This was in line with previous track record of UPSC whereby it refused to postpone examinations multiple times, even citing silly reasons like X number of aspirants have downloaded their admit cards, thus they want to give the exam on time. Given the national scale of the UPSC Prelims, localized inconveniences are unfortunately a possibility. Previously, people were affected due to Floods, Conflict in Manipur and more. Such impacts cannot be ruled out even in future. What if UPSC postpones the exam to June and some region witnesses torrential rainfall and there's another plea to postpone the exam? This is not to dismiss genuine concerns of affected candidates. All I am trying to point out here is the complexity involved with respect to such a big exercise. Last year UPSC had to postpone prelims due to LS elections in Delhi because a large number of aspirants were impacted. Unless a similar constraint arises, a postponement is highly unlikely. While some aspirants are genuinely affected by the ongoing conflict, many others are being misled by the hype around postponement. Certain stakeholders with vested interests are also trying to reap benefits out of this situation as postponement may allow them to push forth with their paid initiatives to gullible aspirants. Don't fall prey to any such claims. My advice to everyone out there is, don't let all this disturb your peace of mind. UPSC has made its intent clear, previously and now. There have been rumours going on regarding the postponement of the CSE Prelims Examination. Please be absolutely clear: Unless UPSC issues an official notification, all claims suggesting postponement are mere speculations and unfounded. Do not be swayed by disinformation or unverified sources. The escalating tensions may be hampering our ability to concentrate on studies or maintain a productive routine. But now, more than ever, we must exercise calm and keep our sanity intact. This is the least and the best we can do for ourselves, our families, and our country. Some of you may be residing in impacted areas near border. This is indeed a difficult time but our forces are doing a commendable job at thwarting the attacks by the enemy. More strength to each of you for holding on during this difficult period There has been a lot of disinformation going on around social media. Exaggerated claims, false alarms, fake news are taking a combined toll on mental health. The constant urge to stay updated is turning out to be counterproductive. Thus, it is advisable to limit social media exposure for the time being. All decisions be it related to exams or otherwise will be taken based on the evolving situations and by the appropriate authorities. Till then, let's avoid falling victim to speculations and narratives. Let's do our best to follow the advisories and directives given by the authorities as the citizens of this great nation. Too much to revise and too little time? Low score in mocks? Overthinking and Anxiety? Unable to recall? Overwhelmed? These are few factors, among many, which trouble most of the aspirants during this point of time. If you are also in the same boat, pat you back, for you are going through, something very natural, very organic part of this journey that UPSC is. Revision: Let's take a walk back to our school or college days, the days before the exams. Didn't we finish something within a week or even less, the same thing which we could not finish in the months before that? Human mind has huge potential and this potential of ours is going to peak in the days to come. Don't doubt, just trust yourself and you will be be able to cover a good lot of things. Mocks: Take low scores as a learning opportunity. Mocks are there to help us identify our weak areas and work upon them that's it. Ultimately, it will be our attitude which will be determining our performance, not some petty mocks. I know people scoring in 40s a week before Prelims yet making to the final list. The prelims cut off in last few years has dropped to below 100 and that means, Net 50 correct questions in GS and we are in the list. Why bother so much about some random questions, some overly factual questions? These are exceptions, ignore them. Focus on what is in your hands. Last but not least, many things before the exam will not go the way you have planned. You may have to cut short on Mocks, may have to miss some additional revisions, skip some sections and more, but know that its absolutely fine. Everyone is in the same boat as you. No one, literally no one, before the exam has that sense of completion. Its all about relative performance. You have come so far in this journey, just one last push and you would be there.
