Phone Overheating: What's the Big Deal? Ever noticed your smartphone turning into a pocket-sized heater? (Any Pixel users here?😏) But why does this happen?🧐 Overheating is rarely caused by a single issue. Instead, it's usually a combination of several factors happening at once. For example, playing a graphically intensive game at max brightness, using mobile data, in a thick case, while it's wirelessly charging on a hot day... that's a surefire recipe for critical overheating. So, what are the main culprits?
- Processor Load: The Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), combined into a System-on-Chip (SoC), generate significant heat under load. - The Charger: Charging, especially wireless charging, generates heat. - Other Internal Components: Radios (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G/4G/5G), cameras, and other components also contribute. - The Environment: A hot summer day, a stuffy room, or direct sunlight on the phone can drastically increase its temperature. - Accessories: Thick cases that trap heat or the use of non-certified chargers can make things worse
Individually, each of these factors might seem minor ☀️, but their combined effect can create extreme conditions. So, what are the optimal operating temperatures❓ Let's break it down, short and simple.
Processor (CPU/SoC): - Idle/Low Load: 25–40°C - High Load: Up to 80°C - Critical Threshold: >80–90°C
The processor's main defense mechanism is thermal throttling. This is a built-in feature that automatically reduces the processor's clock speed when its temperature exceeds a set threshold. It's important to understand that despite the negative feel (like slowdowns), throttling is a crucial protective mechanism that prevents permanent damage to the chip.
Battery: * Idle/Low Load: 22–25°C * High Load/Charging: Up to 40°C * Critical Threshold: >45°C (this temperature is especially dangerou during charging)
The battery, however, doesn't have a protective shield like the processor does. Overheating the battery is far more dangerous than overheating the processor. High temperatures accelerate the chemical reactions inside the lithium-ion cell, leading to irreversible capacity loss and a shorter overall lifespan. This damage is cumulative, and every instance of overheating permanently reduces the battery's health. How Do Manufacturers Combat Overheating? Manufacturers primarily use passive cooling solutions to draw heat away from components:
- Graphite Films: These thin films are excellent at conducting heat laterally (4-5 times better than copper) but are poor conductors vertically. This makes them ideal for spreading heat from a dangerous "hotspot" across a larger area, turning it into a safer, "warm surface." They are also lightweight and flexible, allowing for a snug fit against components. - Vapor Chambers and Heat Pipes: These are more advanced solutions that work on the principle of phase transition. Heat from the processor vaporizes a working fluid inside a sealed chamber. This vapor rapidly moves to a cooler area, where it condenses back into a liquid, releasing its heat in the process. Vapor chambers are more effective than simple heat pipes at distributing heat over a wide area and can handle higher thermal loads. Samsung is a notable user of this technology.
Manufacturers also use software to manage heat. As we've mentioned, the most prominent example is thermal throttling—automatically reducing processor performance when temperatures cross a safe threshold. This is a key strategy used by brands like Pixel and iPhone.
The main takeaway is that battery overheating poses a more serious and long-term threat to your device than processor overheating. While the processor is protected by throttling to prevent permanent damage, the battery suffers from cumulative and irreversible degradation. @Pixozien

I am not too sure if this info will be accurate enough for most people, my battery is 4 y.o after all 😅 Screen on drain: 10-15%/h Screen off drain: 2%/h I'm not sure if the deep sleep works, because when i wake up, i always find my battery 30% less than when i left it, this applies to all roms for me. So, i cannot comment on the battery 😞
3. ❗️Bugs and notes 📝: +It is the best HyperOS port i have ever tried +Comes with built in KSU! -Ads in system apps still exist Smoothest rom compared to other HyperOS ports i tried. I couldn't find any bugs. I give it a 9/10. Tester's thoughts:
Every once in a while, i miss MIUI/HyperOS, then i install it, then i remember why i hate it so much. This rom is smooth, but there are some things in HyperOS that i hate so much.
