| 11 |  The Story of Unitree’s IPO
In 2009, as a university freshman, Wang Xingxing spent just ¥200 of his own money to build a small robot. What began as a personal obsession with robotics eventually became something much bigger.
During his master’s studies, Wang developed XDog, a low-cost quadruped robot. After graduating, he briefly joined DJI, but chose to leave and build his own company. In 2016, he founded Unitree Robotics with a simple but ambitious idea: make advanced robots more accessible.
Unitree first made its name with affordable quadruped robots, before expanding into humanoids such as the H1 and G1. Over the years, Wang’s engineering-first approach helped turn a small robotics startup into one of China’s most prominent robotics companies. By 2025, Unitree had reached ¥1.7 billion in revenue.
Now, just ten years after its founding, Unitree has reached another milestone: its 2026 IPO on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, raising about $900 million at a valuation of roughly $9 billion.
From a ¥200 robot to a $9 billion company — Wang Xingxing’s story is a reminder that great companies can begin with something remarkably small.

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has named asteroids (131358) Kamolergashev and (121339) Otabekburkhonov in honor of Dr. Kamoliddin Ergashev and Dr. Otabek Burkhonov from the Ulugh Beg Astronomical Institute.
This prestigious recognition celebrates their outstanding contributions to asteroid research, photometry, and observational astronomy. Their names will now remain permanently in the official astronomical catalog.
