HOW NADIA MY 8-YEAR-OLD OFFERED ME SUPPORT WHEN I LACKED MOTIVATION TODAY. I woke up this morning feeling down and unmotivated to exercise. Exercising (at least 1 KM walk/jog and 5-10 min of planks) is part of my routine. It helps me stay healthy and clear my head for the day. As I was having that inner argument with myself about maybe I should go to work or not and just do nothing today, I remembered I spent only 3.5 hours at work yesterday (Had to be in Nadia's school for parent-teaching day😁😁. I taught 2 classes. Gist for another day). I also remembered I have not reviewed the content calendar for next for the next 2 weeks. I was like ahhh, I have work that needs my attention o. So I was contemplating ditching exercise and going to work like that. Then Nadia came upstairs and said, Mummy, my bus isn't here yet. Let's go and exercise 😁😁😁. I said to myself, THIS IS MY MOTIVATION for today. As I was wearing my exercise wear, her bus arrived and I asked her to rush down and go to school. I still did my exercise because she had held me accountable for it this morning. I ended up doing 2+ KM because I walked for the better part and I also did my planks. Before I was done, my mood had lifted. Here I am right now reviewing the content calendar at work. I reflected on this morning's event and here are my thoughts. 1) Have a solid support system what I call SSS. For every goal you want to achieve, especially if it's a marathon, not a sprint, know that starting motivation isn't enough. Build a system that keeps you on course. Have an accountability coach, pay to join a group, get a hard-core friend, and tell your children to hold you to it because you will hate to let them down. Whatever you do, build a structure that keeps you accountable. 2) You are your child's greatest role model if you are modeling the right things. Omo, I have tried to exercise almost daily for a couple of years now and one of the fun parts is when they wait for their school bus and we do group skipping. 😁😁. It's always fun. Sometimes, I am 🏃 running and they are cycling. It's typically a great bonding time. To think that Nadia was my "coach" today wasn't planned out but modeled. She even asked me for a smoothie last night after dinner as a snack instead of junk. Omo, I AM A SUPER PROUD MUM🥰🥰🥰😁😁😁. There are more learnings in the events but I'll let you pick yours. 😁😁. I AM ACTUALLY A CELEB IN MY CHILDREN'S SCHOOL NOW BECAUSE OF GMC😁😁. THE BACK STORY. The other day, I went to my son's school for the open day. Before I came, he was in a conversation with his friends and they had asked him what his mum does. He said I am a teacher. Then he went further to tell them that I train the whole of Africa online and I just finished a conference online. He then said his mummy was also on TV a few days before that for the conference. Some of them did not believe him as they saw the news with their parents, saw the name Adepoju but said are you sure that's your mum. So they said let's wait for her to come for you today. That's how me I showed up I not knowing that the boy don dey wait. Immediately I was done with the open day and we were walking to the car and they started shouting from across to say Abdul-Mateen, that's your mum. Good afternoon ma. I sha answered well and I saw my son smiling and "galloping" I was sha wondering why the warm greeting. We entered the car and he explained the above to me. 😁😁😁 Kai, I have never been prouder in my life. When your son can say "Thats my mum" as per my mum is "killing it" in her profession and career.
