Fawā'id | Benefits

Muhammad ibn Shihāb az Zuhri was traveling and still fasted on the Day of Ashura, so it was said to him, “You fast on the Day of Ashura while traveling, but you break your fast in Ramadan?” He replied, “Ramadan fasts can be made up on other days, but the Day of Ashura will pass you by (i.e., it is not legislated to make it up later).” [شعب الأيمان للبيهقي ٣٥١٨]

Shaykh Ibn Bāz رحمه الله: "As for making the day of 'Ashūrā' a day of mourning, then it is a despicable innovation which the Rāfīḍah have innovated. By [introducing] it, they have opposed Ahl al-Sunnah Wa-al-Jama'ah and what the Prophet ﷺ companions traversed upon. Therefore, it is not permissible to resemble them in that. [مجموع فتاوى الشيخ ابن باز ٢٥٣/٢٦]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: “Distance from Allāh comes in stages, where some are more severe than others. Heedlessness distances the heart away from Allāh, and the distance of sin is greater than that of heedlessness. The distance of innovation is greater than that of sin, and the distance of hypocrisy and shirk is greater than all.” [الداء والدواء]

al-ʿAllāmah Rabīʿ al-Madkhalī حفظه الله: "Fill the world with knowledge, the people are in need of (beneficial) ʿIlm, this bickering distorts Salafī Manhaj and drives people away from it, Leave off these petty arguments whether they be on the internet, or in any of the fields from the academic domain, or in any of the lands from whichever continent, Present beneficial knowledge to the people and do not get occupied with argumentation; neither the laymen nor yourselves!" [الذريعة ٣/٢١٥]

ʿAmr ibn Qays رحمه الله: Indeed, a woman will dispute with her husband on the Day of Judgment before Allāh, saying : “He did not discipline me and did not teach me anything. He used [only] to bring me bread from the market.” [تفسير السمعاني (5/475)]

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: “The most excellent fast after Ramadan is Allāh's month. Al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night.” [Muslim: 1163]

الناس يحاولون الهروب من الموت، ليس من الجحيم على الرغم من أنهم قد يتمكنون من الهروب من الجحيم، ولكن ليس من الموت People try to escape from death, not from hell, while they might manage to escape from hell, but not from death.

Ibn al-Mubarak رحمه الله: "The man seeks istikhaarah (guidance) from Allāh ‏عز وجل and He chooses for him, (then) he becomes upset over (what was the choice of) his Lord Almighty (for him) it is not long before he considers the outcome except (he realizes) that it (i.e., Allāh’s choice) was (actually) better for him." [az-Zuhd, 1740]
