The Greensboro "massacre" of November 3, 1979, was a clash between the NSPA/KKK and the CWP (Communist Workers Party). CWP was holding a rally, ironically enough named "Death to the Klan" The Klan and NSPA were informed of this rally taking place, and they decided to interfere. This, however, escalated. "As the two opposing groups came into contact with each other at the onset of the march, both sides exchanged gunfire. The CWP and its supporters had handguns, while members of the KKK and the NSPA had a variety of firearms." The KKK and the NSPA were better armed, so they had the upper hand in the gunfight, and ultimately they suffered no losses. This standoff led to the deaths of five members of the CWP, also 16 Klansmen and NSPA members, and several CWP members were prosecuted and sentenced. However, in November 1980, the jury acquitted all Klansman and NSPA members prosecuted. calling it a self-defense case. White Socialism
