Doctor was a good friend of Pasha . Pasha hated himself for liking Zari because It’s low to fancy a friend’s fiance. He (Doctor) was into politics and wanted to bring change in the society but it wasn't easy. He disappeared for the entire summer to take part in the revolution. While he was gone the four of them got to know each other a bit better. Ahmed confessed his love for Fahmeeh in front of her family. He was beaten by her brothers. Soon his friend Pasha came to his rescue. Zari invited the 3 of them to her home for tea.The 4 of them clicked & vibed in her house. The light in the alley soon turned into a darkest mine, When the doctor returned with the SAVAK ( secret police of the Shah ) behind him. They took and executed him after a few days. It shook everyone and the story unfolds bitterly. 🌻 Writing style :- The writing style was subtle and very less nuanced vocabulary used. But the last few chapters feel unnecessarily inserted . 💭 Themes :- The story was full of excruciating pain and sorrow after every few chapters something horrible is waiting for you. But at the same time characters free spirit will evoke you. ❤️ Favourite Quotes ✨“It’s time for the parents in this country to learn that the souls of their children are more important than tradition,” he says. “You young people need to assume responsibility for your own futures,” he tells me. “If someone’s old enough to be married off, then they’re sure as hell old enough to decide who they should marry.” Favourite moment 💛 When Mr Meharban meets his long time friend Pasha's dad after 18 yrs of exile. Mr Mehrbaan says, “It’s been eighteen years.” 🥺🥺🥺  My father says, “Eighteen years, four months, and three days 🥺🥺🥺

🌹🌹“The red rose will be our symbol of defiance from now on” 🌹🌹 Here is the insight about the book. The book traces back to the summer of 1973 Tehran. In 1973s the political atmosphere of Iran was not that great. The ruler of that time was the Shah who was backed up by the American government. The revolution and defiance was in the air of Tehran. Many college guys were against the regime of shah. Pasha and Ahmed were the two boys who were in love with the girls from their alley Zari and Fahmeeh respectively. Pasha was studious and loved the work of Russian writers and revolutionists and Ahmed was funny , Smart and Pasha's best friend. Pasha used to watch Zari from his rooftop who was reading in her yard. He was crazy about her but the love was forbidden as zari was destined to get married to the “Ramin Sobhi". Ramin was famous with the name Doctor. He was a third-year political science major at the University of Tehran.
