Video out of Nigeria shows Nigerian soldiers beating and torturing members of Boko Haram (a terrorist organization). The group has been linked to brutal and indiscriminate killings in Africa. Some of the men appear to be dead. Roughly two weeks ago, Nigerian soldiers conducted an operation that freed hundreds of women and children held by the group. It's unclear if these men were captured during that operation or are from a different operation.  The Nigerian military has not commented on the video.

Underreported: (Graphic) The United Nations has condemned an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Gezira province, Sudan, which resulted in at least 104 civilians being killed, some of whom appear to have been executed. According to the governor of Darfur, Mini Arko Minawi, the RSF launched an assault on the village of Wad al-Noura. According to Minawi, most victims were women, children (including infants), and elderly. A local grassroots group reported that the RSF used heavy artillery to carry out the initial attack on the village and subsequently looted the village after. Following the attack, telecommunications in the country went offline. The attacks have resulted in thousands of people fleeing (photos attached from today). Aditional video and images showed bodies being lined up and the initial attack by the RSF. In addition, footage has surfaced of attackers celebrating as they rolled into the town. Many of the civilians killed had gunshot wounds to their heads, indicating that they were executed. The Sudanese transitional government denounced the attacks and urged international intervention to hold the RSF accountable. "These are criminal acts that reflect the systematic behavior of these militias in targeting civilians, plundering their property, and forcibly displacing them," stated the Transitional Sovereignty Council's media office. Counterclaims: The RSF, which has been in conflict with the Sudanese army since April 2023, claimed responsibility for attacks in the region, alleging that the Sudanese military planned assaults against its troops. A spokesman said "Our forces will not stand idly by in the face of any movements or gatherings by the enemy and will work to pursue and defeat the enemy." The war between the RSF and the Sudanese army has wrecked the country as clashes spread across multiple cities and pushed its population to the brink of famine.

Video posted by pro-Russian social media accounts shows Russian soldiers walking with four Ukrainian POWs. At one point, the soldiers can be seen kicking two of the POWs with one dropping to the ground. One of the Russian soldiers says, "Hey, should we kill him?" The other soldier responds, "Get up, Let's [Go!] Once! Two! Three!" The soldier then fires a gunshot (the footage appears to show the gun aimed at the dirt next to his head. It then cuts out. One pro-Russian social media account wrote, "Ukranaz*s who can walk. Otherwise, they will be left in darkness to fertilize the poor now-BlackRock's asset."

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has released body cam footage showing a recent use-of-force incident in which a deputy shot a suspect who had struck him with a paint roller. The incident began when the Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a domestic dispute and suspicious behavior. Upon arrival, deputies were informed by a neighbor of the suspect's erratic actions. They then attempted to arrest Isael Orellana, 43, who resisted and brandished a paint roller in a threatening manner. As Orellana raised the paint roller, a deputy identified it and used OC spray to subdue him while another deputy provided lethal cover. Disoriented and angered by the spray, Orellana threw the roller, hitting the covering deputy in the abdomen. The deputy responded by firing his weapon, ultimately shooting Orellana multiple times. After the shooting, deputies moved in to arrest Orellana and provide medical aid. Orellana was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the deputy struck by the paint roller complained of abdominal pain. No other injuries were reported in the incident. Lawyers for Orellana have filed a lawsuit against the sheriff's department and are seeking an undisclosed amount for damages. His lawyer, Damon Alimouri, claimed that his client was suffering from mental health issues.

Authorities in Mexico have confirmed that a mayoral candidate was assassinated during a campaign rally in the southern state of Guerrero. Alfredo Cabrera was killed on Wednesday in Coyuca de Benitez, marking the latest in a series of violent incidents leading up to the June 2 elections. Cabrera was a member of an opposition coalition supporting Xochitl Galvez, a center-right senator with Indigenous roots, who is currently polling second in the presidential race. Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado condemned the assassination as a "cowardly" act and urged the state prosecutor’s office to ensure that justice is served. According to the prosecutor's office, the alleged attacker was killed at the scene. In response to the escalating violence, about 27,000 soldiers and National Guard members will be deployed to enhance security during the upcoming elections. This development comes as reports by the Mexican government indicate that 22 political candidates have been assassinated since September. In addition to Cabrera’s assassination, another mayoral candidate was killed in Morelos, and a separate candidate was injured in Jalisco earlier this week. Political violence in Mexico is often linked to drug cartels, which aim to influence local governance by either backing specific candidates or eliminating rivals. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has acknowledged the cartels' role in determining local political outcomes, stating that they sometimes dictate who can run for office. To address these threats, the government has provided bodyguards to approximately 250 candidates, with a focus on those running for municipal positions.

Video out of Colombia shows a Blackhawk pilot taking direct fire while conducting a special forces operation against FARC rebels. The direct contact came as the blackhawks gunners were opening fire on targets. It appears the pilot was okay.

Video we've obtained out of Ukraine showing the reality of drone warfare and how its shaped the battlefield. A Russian soldier can be seen taking a direct hit from a Ukrainian explosive-loaded FPV drone. After he is hit, the soldier can be seen rolling over, and a pool of blood begins to come out of him.

Video out of Ukraine shows a Russian soldier committing suicide as Ukrainian drones continue to pound his location. In the video, the soldier can be seen putting a grenade against his chest (towards the end of the video) before it blows up moments later. We've been documenting cases like this over the last two years. There's been instances like this on both sides of the battlefield.
