The Greatest Community Takeover in History
CTO (Community Takeover) occurs when the original builders step away from a project and its development is taken over by the community. The reasons can vary: scams, loss of interest, or lack of traction. In the case of GRAM, the reasons were different. The Telegram team stepped down, and the Newton team took over. Over time, the Newton team became known as the TON Core developers, led by Anatoly Makosov, and TON has since become one of the best blockchains.
CTO is particularly common in the world of meme coins, where the developer often exits the project, leaving its fate in the hands of the community. It is the community that decides whether the project will continue to thrive or fade into obscurity.
The $REDO project was launched on January 9, 2024. Shortly after burning the tokens from the initial liquidity pool and renouncing the contract, the original developer left the project. However, a united community, understanding the narrative of the Dog of Resistance and its deep connection to the essence of Telegram and TON, took over the project. Through their efforts, $REDO has become a community-driven and community-owned coin, with a current market cap of $52.3M.
TON.FUN is a TON Bonding Curve Launchpad that launched its alpha version in May. The original developers decided to hand over the project to the community and chose us, Meridian Club, as the best candidates to continue the fun they started and work on distributing it across Web3.
