✅ Recently he was honoured with the ' Kushilaba kala nidhi' ( treasure of arts) title for his contribution to the field of Satriya Sangeet culture
🍀Jatin Goswami is a renowned figure in the realm of Indian classical dance, particularly known for his significant contributions to the Sattriya dance form.
✅Born on August 2, 1933, in Adhar Sattra near Dergaon in Assam, Goswami has been a pivotal figure in popularizing and preserving this traditional Assamese dance.
✅Goswami received his early training in Sattriya from his father and later from other notable masters such as Gopiram Bayan and Babula Bayan. His dedication to Sattriya led to its recognition as a classical dance form by the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2000
✅Throughout his career, Goswami has received numerous accolades, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2004, the Padma Shri in 2008, and the Akademi Ratna Award in 2019
✅He is also the founder of Sattriya Akademi in Guwahati and the cultural organization Pragjyoti Kala Parishad
Recently, in January 2024, Goswami was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Sadin-Pratidin Achiever Awards for his lifelong dedication to Sattriya dance
His contributions extend beyond performance, as he has been instrumental in modernizing and adapting Sattriya to contemporary contexts while maintaining its traditional roots
Goswami's efforts have not only preserved Sattriya but also inspired a new generation of dancers to embrace this classical art form, ensuring its continued vitality and growth
