﴿٨٣﴾ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنْفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا ۖ فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ ۖ عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ83. He said, “No! Your souls tempted you into something. Patience is a virtue. Perhaps Allah will bring them all back to me. He is the Knowing, the Wise.”
﴿٨٤﴾ وَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا أَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَابْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ84. Then he turned away from them, and said, “O my bitterness for Joseph.” And his eyes turned white with grief, and he became depressed.
﴿٨٥﴾ قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ تَفْتَأُ تَذْكُرُ يُوسُفَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ حَرَضًا أَوْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِينَ85. They said, “By Allah, you will not stop remembering Joseph, until you have ruined your health, or you have passed away.”
﴿٨٦﴾ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ86. He said, “I complain of my sorrow and grief to Allah alone, and I know from Allah what you do not know.”
When you have a feeling of complete hopelessness from anyone (and everyone) Allah created, when there is affliction and catastrophe that falls upon you one after another with no end in sight, remember - this life is a test. This life is based on one affliction going away and the next catastrophe showing up! Catastrophe heap upon catastrophe. You reach a point sometimes of complete hopelessness. Why? So you do the only thing you can and are supposed to do - flee to your Lord! You have no choice but to turn back to Him. Don’t give up hope of Allah’s good mercy. Allah is the Most Merciful. Flee to Allah. Allah is there to answer you. None can help you. None can remove the affliction that befalls you except He. You have to put your trust in Allah.
Allah said (Hadith Qudsi - interpretation of the meaning): Whosoever draws close to Me by the length of a hand, I will draw close to him by the length of an arm. Whosoever draws close to Me by the length of an arm, I will draw close to him by the length of a fathom. Whoever comes to Me walking, I will come to him running.
When the verse was revealed in the Qur’an, When my slaves inquires about Me O Muhammad, I am indeed near. I answer all their supplications and I answer the supplication of the supplicant when he supplicates. So, we have to supplicate! There is no refuge but with Him, neither is there any escape from Him except to Him. We have to flee to Allah, there is no other direction to go. Allah is the only recourse 🤍! ...
﴿٢٨﴾ وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ ۖ وَلَا تَعْدُ عَيْنَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَنْ ذِكْرِنَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُ فُرُطًا28. And content yourself with those who pray to their Lord morning and evening, desiring His Attention. And do not turn your eyes away from them, desiring the glitter of this world. And do not obey him whose heart We made oblivious to Our remembrance—so he follows his own whims, and his priorities are confused. Just remember, this moment is only a chapter in your life, not the entire story. Put forth your best effort, have patience, and trust that everything will work out, by the will of Allah. Every challenge you face is just a stepping stone towards growth and success. Stay strong and keep moving forward, for better days are ahead, insha’Allah🤍! ...
