So the story of lyra represents lyre,an ancient musical instrument. Its story is connected to Orpheus, one of the greatest musicians in Greek mythology.
Orpheus fell deeply in love with Eurydice, and they were married. But Eurydice died and descended into the Underworld.
Heartbroken, Orpheus traveled to the Underworld to bring her back. His music was so beautiful that even Hades, the god of the Underworld, was moved by it. Hades agreed to let Eurydice return with Orpheus but there was one condition:
“Orpheus could not look back at her until they had completely left the Underworld.”
As they were almost out, Orpheus became afraid that Eurydice wasn’t really following him. He turned around to look at her, and she disappeared back into the Underworld.Orpheus was devastated. After his death, according to the myth, his lyre was placed among the stars, becoming the constellation Lyra.
