Public Information Noble (PIN) Announces Transformative Initiative for Ethiopia
Dear PIN Co-founder, Members, and Volunteers,
PIN is excited to announce our ongoing efforts in partnership and stakeholder mapping, engaging with international organizations, embassies, governments, CSOs, and both private and public institutions. Recognizing that information is fundamental to our human rights, economic, social, democratic, and political rights, we are committed to building strategic partnerships and key stakeholder relationships before launching our initiatives fully.
Our key project, "Promoting Access to Information: A Key to Good Governance in Ethiopia," has received promising feedback from all stakeholders we've engaged with so far.
Project Overview
Public Information Noble (PIN) is leading a groundbreaking initiative to establish a National Data Center and a free call center in Ethiopia. This project aims to enhance access to information, promote transparency and accountability, and foster good governance across the nation.
Objectives and Scope
The core of PIN's initiative is the creation of a National Data Center and a toll-free call center accessible to all Ethiopian citizens. This will ensure that essential public information is readily available, empowering citizens and supporting their fundamental right to information.
Partnership and Collaboration
To realize this vision, PIN seeks collaboration with various stakeholders. We call on partners to help collect government service-related proclamations, directives, regulations, and citizenship charters. This collaboration will be crucial in establishing the National Data Center and the call center in Addis Ababa.
Target Beneficiaries
PIN's initiative focuses on benefiting marginalized groups, including women, disabled individuals, and youth. By providing easier access to information, we aim to promote inclusivity and equal opportunity.
Benefits of the Initiative
1.
Ensuring Fundamental Human Rights: Making public information readily accessible upholds the fundamental human right to information.
2.
Reducing Corruption: Increased transparency can significantly reduce corruption. Public access to information minimizes opportunities for corrupt practices.
3.
Enhancing Transparency and Accountability: More public information ensures government actions are transparent and officials are accountable.
4.
Promoting Good Governance: Access to information, transparency, and accountability are key components of good governance, supported by this initiative.
The Importance of Information
Information is crucial for empowerment and development. Inclusive access to information for all citizens is vital for Ethiopia's progress and democratization. By promoting access to public information, we move towards greater transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Call to Action
Public Information Noble urges all stakeholders to join this vital initiative. Together, we can make information accessible to all Ethiopians, fostering a culture of openness and accountability that will benefit society. Stay tuned with PIN for impactful and overwhelming results.
