Al-Hāfidh Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, rahimahullāh, said: Umar ibn al‑Khattāb, may Allah be pleased with him, whenever winter arrived, would look after them and wrote for them with advice: "Indeed, winter has come, and it is an enemy. So prepare for it with its gear of wool, leather footwear, and socks and take wool as your inner garment and outer garment. Indeed the cold is an enemy which enters quickly but leaves slowly." Salam ibn Miskīn, rahimahu’Allah, said: “Indeed, the Qur’an points you to your illness and your cure. As for your illness, it is your sins; and as for your cure, it is seeking forgiveness.” [al-Tawbah of Ibn Abee Dunyā 89] https://x.com/yassinyd/status/1997327661006192942?s=46

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahu’Allah said: “The insightful and sincere person does not feel estranged by the small number of companions, nor by losing them, when his heart senses the companionship of the foremost generation.” [Ighāthat al-Lahfān 1/113] https://x.com/yassinyd/status/1996613945726279989?s=46

The reward is of the same kind as the deed. What is the reason the angels felt shy from Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)? Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “As for Uthman, he himself was shy, so the angels felt shy from him, because the reward is of the same kind as the deed.” [Jami al-Masail 9/168] https://x.com/yassinyd/status/1996264855293010378?s=46

Our Fiqh of Marriage lesson for today is postponed. We'll resume next week, Inshaa’Allah.

Some scholars said: “We did not seek knowledge in order to encompass all of it, since there is no way to that [for that is impossible], but rather to increase what is correct and to reduce error.” [Al-Laṭāif wa-Ẓarāif by al-Thaālibī (d. 429 AH] https://x.com/yassinyd/status/1994090987304448174?s=46
