It never ceases to amaze me: we all love ourselves more than other people, but care more about their opinion than our own. The worst case scenario, though, is when these external opinions affect important life decisions of what values to adopt, who to befriend or marry. Having stable, mature adults early in life is critical for this reason. They are like checkpoints that ensure we stay focused, sane and true to ourselves both in the moments of bust and boom. Warren Buffen couldn't be more right when he said: " Success is when the five people we love also love us back". Now, I'm curious: who serves you as your guiding light ? https://t.me/englishnudge

#Transcript This is a tough one because of all the things that I watch or read, one thing that I hate the most that bugs me and causes a lot of disturbance and cringe is ads. I mean, the majority of them, if not all, usually promote nothing but materialism, greed, and unhealthy food options. And whenever they target kids, that's when they cross the line. As a mom, I hate this because it's not a rare occasion when my daughter comes up to me and asks me to buy all these advertised stuff. And then I have to spend a while explaining to her how harmful these products are for her health. I remember this one ad that belongs to a local fried chips company, and it actually has a lot of celebrities endorsing it. Literally every month they change the celebrity, and the sheer promotion it receives and the frequency with which it gets to the public really leaves you with no choice but to consume it. I mean, if your kids are watching TV in any capacity, they're bound to come across this ad and maybe start craving for it. So, I mean, this is really, really pathetic of companies to target kids because there's really nothing worse for their health than all these ultra-processed junk food. But the companies keep pushing them, and media outlets just go with them simply for these financial incentives. https://t.me/englishnudge

People ask, “Have you ever seen the God you worship? How can you be sure He exists?” Answers: i. Just look around you. ii. I’ve never seen my soul either. And yet I revere it. #Transcript There are a couple of websites that I visit daily, either for work, academic, or entertainment purposes. One virtual address that caters to all of these needs is Medium.com. It's essentially a hub where different writers or bloggers come together and share their beautiful pieces of writing with the general public. There are two subscription plans. The free one gives you access to a limited number of reads, whereas the paid one allows you to access an entire reservoir of articles that this website possesses. Well, why do I like this website? Well, there are, as I said, three reasons. For my work, when I'm looking for some cool piece of writing to share with my students, that's my go-to place. I am always satisfied with the kinds of articles that this website offers. And as a student, I usually navigate different courses, so if I need to complete some sort of assignment and if I'm seeking some additional information, Medium always has something that can benefit me. Finally, for entertainment purposes, I mean, if you're into some sort of topic, if you're a kind of a nerd that wants to explore some subject matter, you just type in that topic and thousands upon thousands of options will appear. For me personally, I love reading about culture, religion, history, and there are tons of interesting stuff related to these subjects. So Medium.com is probably going to stay my favorite website for years to come. https://t.me/englishnudge

I'm here with a podcast review instead of a #bookreview. The 2-hour morning walk was well-spent with this episode. It made me introspect, empathize, laugh, and even get teary - a real rollercoaster of emotions! If young folks out there are looking for a role model, look no further. Mukhammad Ali embodies, from what it seems, positive characteristics you might expect from a genuine, solid man. Part of the reason why the episode oozes so much energy and wisdom are all the wonderful questions asked by @markhabo_radjabova. Hats off to you, girl! You know what's sad?! Our failure, as a nation, to support each other. All English-speaking Uzbeks should go over and subscribe to this podcast channel and spread the word. https://t.me/englishnudge

You've thrown yourself into English but don't see where you're headed or when you'll be done. Is the journey filled with bumps? Does native-like English or an 8+ in IELTS look more elusive as you blaze your path? Congratulations, mate! We're in the same boat! The feeling we all experience at some point in any endeavor is called 'LANGUISHING'. It is a sense of stagnation. It's as if you're gaining no ground. You may not be depressed or burned out, but you definitely feel BLAH. So, how to refill our empty tank to make new strides? Doubling down and getting more obsessed with the task worsens your state. Taking a detour should be a way out! Put what you're obsessing over on the back burner and take on a small, fun activity. Make progress, regain momentum, and apply the newfound fuel to reign in your main goal. Now, over to you: can you relate to this situation? Also, what one phrase from this post do you want to memorize? Join the channel!

#Transcript A talented person I know is none other than Tim Ferriss. I don't know him in person, but I've been following him on social media long enough to come to know what a multifaceted individual he is. There is a huge talent pool that he possesses that I'm just going to list one by one. First off, he is a podcasting legend. He's actually one of the pioneering names in this field. And I got hooked on podcasts, mainly thanks to him. Another thing that makes him such a standout is his achievements in the field of sports. He excels in different types of martial arts. He has even got different titles. So he's a huge sports fanatic. Another thing that makes him so unique is his ability to dance. He is a killer dancer. And I've stumbled upon some YouTube videos where he was performing in a dancing tournament, and he actually did a great job. It was some sort of South American type of dance, Latin American type of dance. Finally, another thing that I admire him for is his writing. He is an avid reader, which then, as a result, makes him a great writer. Just go and open any article that he has on his blog or read any of the books that he has written, and you're gonna see for yourself what a compelling writer he is. He writes succinctly with a lot of poise and flair. So, he has so many dimensions to his character which makes him a truly talented person. https://t.me/englishnudge

#Transcript You know, there's this thing called loneliness epidemic. It's really hitting hard, especially the younger demographic. All around the world, young people are reporting the higher levels of social anxiety, a sense of isolation and alienation. And a lot of work is being done to deal with this problem. And recently I've come to learn that one way that we can fight this epidemic it really has to do with a city infrastructure. So if cities are set up in ways that can encourage more social interactions, people are less likely to be alone and more likely to be happier. One such city that nails the fight against this issue is Barcelona. In the city, they have these special squares called 'third places'. so in terms of their significance they follow homes and workplaces and when people aren't working or when they're not indoors they come out to these places and try to connect with others. They do so by playing different games, doing sports, or just hang around and vibe together and chill over a drink. And that does so much for their mental health. It helps them to create a stronger sense of community. And such places are almost in every corner of the city, which makes it possible for each and every resident to enjoy this facility. So by this, I'm suggesting that Barcelona is one of the best places to live in if you are someone who wants to lead an active lifestyle. https://t.me/englishnudge

#Transcript I subscribe to the idea that health comes above all else. If we really want to show up for anything or anyone that matters to us, we need to be healthy both in mind and body. And a lot of it comes down to our diet. People who have balanced diets usually can expand their lifespans, they can increase their energy levels and become more productive in like all spheres of their lives. And with that in mind, I've been really curious in trying my hand at nutritionology or dietology. As you know, it has become a kind of a buzz. A lot of people are interested in this subject. There are many people who are doing it just for their own sake, for their own family's sake. own sake for their own family's sake but I also know of others who want to gain credentials so that they build a career in this field or run a blog where they give advice to people about how to eat more healthily. So my aim behind this behind my interest in the subject is to improve my own diet and learn about you know how different ingredients interact with each other and how we need to organize our diets so that we get enough protein and fiber and carbs, healthy carbs and what have you. This way I believe I will be able to show up for stuff, for important things in life, not just like 100%, but 1000% and it can definitely make me more productive. https://t.me/englishnudge

#Transcript I think it's only natural that children remember the first time they go to school very clearly. So the better part of six or seven years, which they spent in the comfort and safety of their home, totally changes. One day they see how their parents and their family surrounds them, and then bam, the atmosphere calibrates, and now they're in a new place that is ready to offer new experiences, new opportunities, and even problems. Much like any other child, I really didn't know what I was getting myself into. I could really feel that it was quite life-altering but didn't know what was awaiting me, and it gave me a little anxiety. Like when I first saw this massive crowd of children with interesting uniforms and teachers with very immaculate features, it made me feel homesick in the first few seconds. I wanted, I like, I held my mom's hands really tight. I got teary-eyed, and I wanted her to take me back home. But then slowly it grew on me. And I think in a matter of two or three days, I already got used to school. One thing that made it really easy to transition from home to school was my brother, who viewed me as a liability for the most part because anytime I got a problem, I came to his classroom and asked him for help. But then the other times, whenever there was good or bad to share, we knew that we had each other and then that we could help each other out if one of us was in trouble. So it really went quite well, and every time I look back at that day it always puts a smile on my face. https://t.me/englishnudge

#bookreview 📙 Title: “The school of life” © Author: Alain de Botton 📍 Genre: Non-Fiction 📑 Pages: 336 Most self-help books are a waste of time. A single message is often stretched over 200-300 pages. The core messages are usually materialistic in nature, reflecting the West's obsession with wealth and dominance. 'The School of Life' is an oddball to this trend! It teaches how to live more fulfilling lives, unpacking theories from philosophical, psychological, and emotional fronts. It describes common human flaws so convincingly that you will have no choice but to introspect and take ownership of yours. The author is literally holding a mirror to our inner worlds. I fell in love with Alain de Botton’s writing style as well. This man is all about wit and wisdom. He delivers his ideas poetically and spices them up with subtle humor. The clarity of thought shows his deep expertise in the subject matter, making the complicated uncomplicated throughout. To wrap up, 'The School of Life' offers so much to take home. Those who struggle to navigate relationships, trauma, and societal norms should definitely read it! https://t.me/englishnudge

'Infoxication', the blend of 'information' and 'toxication', is arguably one of the leading reasons for brain fog and stress. How to tackle it? Lately, I have started rewatching/rereading/relistening to content I like until I feel I have retained at least the basics. This gives me time to process and reflect on the topic. Is information overload a problem for you too? What do you think you should do about it? 🤔 https://t.me/englishnudge
