| 13 | So guys, For the past few months, I've been living the startup life.
One thing I'd love to share and I believe very few people talk about this honestly. Many founders only speak about the glamorous side, but here's what I've learned.
If you're planning to become a startup founder or co-founder, here are a few lessons:
1. Building a startup demands sacrifices.
For a while, your product will come before comfort, entertainment, and weekends. It's not forever, but there will be phases where work becomes your biggest priority.
2. Don't wait for funding to start.
If your mindset is, "I'll build once I raise money," you're already behind. Build first, prove there's demand, and let funding accelerate your growth not begin it.
3. Validate before you scale.
Get your first users from friends, family, relatives, or your immediate network. Learn from them, improve your product, and only then think about scaling.
4. Be prepared for long days.
Especially if you're building an AI SaaS product, there will be late nights, early mornings, and plenty of problem-solving. Just don't forget that consistency beats burnout.
5. Your focus is your biggest advantage.
There are billions of people in the world, and someone else may be working on a similar idea. The difference is execution. Stay focused and keep shipping.
6. Revenue matters more than valuation.
A high valuation looks great on paper, but revenue builds a real business. Don't confuse investment with profit.
7. Cash flow is king.
Pay your employees, interns, vendors, and essential expenses first. Keep emergency reserves for your company. As a founder, your own payout often comes last.
Startup life isn't as glamorous as social media makes it look. It's a journey filled with uncertainty, sacrifices, learning, and resilience. But if you genuinely enjoy solving problems and creating value, it's one of the most rewarding paths you can take. | 675 |
