The graph illustrates how much time was spent on manufacturing a single vehicle by four US companies between 1998 and 2002. Overall, Nissan, Daimler Chrysler (DC), and General Motors (GM) reduced the time needed to manufacture a vehicle to varying degrees, with Nissan achieving the most notable increase in efficiency, transforming from the slowest manufacturer to the fastest over the period. Ford was the only manufacturer whose per-vehicle production time increased during this period. Three out of the four manufacturers saw varying decreases in per-vehicle production time. Nissan produced a single vehicle in a high of 37 hours in 1998 - the longest time needed for single vehicle production. This time, however, decreased dramatically to around 24 hours in 2000, which was followed by a rather modest fall to approximately 20 hours in 2002, making it the fastest manufacturer during the second half of the period. GM and DC followed similar yet less dramatic downward trends, with the former seeing a steady decline in per-vehicle production time from 32 hours in 1998 to 24 hours in 2002. Meanwhile, DC exhibited variable changes, with its figure decreasing from 34 to 32 hours over the first year, followed by a period of stability at that point until 2001, before finally declining to 28 hours in 2002. It was only Ford that saw an increase in allocated time for producing a single vehicle. Womenβs clothes consistently recorded the largest sales, with the most notable disparity compared to other products seen in autumn, although items like sports equipment, cosmetics, and jewellery were sold in their largest volumes during this season. It is also clear that spring and summer saw the highest sales of menβs clothes. Winter and spring exhibited less significant differences in the sales. Womenβs clothes were sold for the largest amounts at $40,000, followed closely by menβs clothes, sports equipment, and cosmetics, all of which accounted for around $25,000. Similarly, the highest sales volume was seen in womenβs clothes at $60,000 in spring. Sports equipment trailed far behind with $40,000 sales, which was double the figure for menβs clothes, cosmetics, and jewellery (each at around $20,000). As for summer and autumn, the purchasing preferences varied significantly across these items. Womenβs clothes, however, remained the best-selling product, with the figure standing at $80,000, which was twice as high as the sales of menβs clothes ($40,000). Meanwhile, the figures for the remaining products ranged between $20,000 and $30,000. The sales figures were even more pronounced in autumn, when a substantial $110,000 was earned from womenβs clothes.
