Representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Burkina Faso, China, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Mexico, Senegal, South Africa, Syria, Thailand and Togo took part in discussions on economics, international relations, culture, education and media cooperation. ➡Learn more on the website! 🗺Russia and the Greater Mediterranean 2024: Societal Security in a Changing Region On 23-24 October, the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Higher School of Economics, will host the third annual conference on the issues of the Mediterranean-Black Sea region, which will be supported by the Gorchakov Fund. The EAEU Media international programme held in Pyatigorsk comes to an end 🖋 From 30 June to 4 July, the Mashuk Knowledge Center were hosting an international school in journalism called the EAEU Media and organised by the Gorchakov Fund in partnership with the information and analytical media outlets Eurasia.Expert, RuBaltic.ru and iac.ru. Some facts from the record of our media school: 🆗Eurasian integration is the main topic of the programme 🆗Participants were 26 aspiring journalists from different regions of Russia and post-Soviet states 🆗Media school included two stages, which are the online and face-to-face ones. The media school participants present their longreads! 🖥 The showdown is here — the moment when the participants of the EAEU Media educational event presented the projects they had been working on all this time. 🔜 What was their task? We divided all the participants into five teams, assigning one EAEU country to each team. They had to prepare a longread about smart city technologies used in the chosen country. Moreover, they had to propose options for cooperation in this area between the members of the Eurasian integration. 🔜 They had a jury, right? It was the participants themselves! We invited the novice journalists to act as jury for their counterparts and rate their longreads on a 5-point scale. 🔜 Who eventually won? The defence of the projects lasted for two hours. Each group tried to stand out among the others. Some of them performed folk dances, while their opponents experimented with neural networks, and other teams even managed to film videos. As a result, the “Armenia” team was victorious. It consisted of Alexandra Melikhova, Anna Gazakova, Vlada Shchetinina, Elena Buivolova and Elizaveta Maidanova. Cross the stream where it is shallowest the media school is being held! Here you have the opportunity to cross all things together! 🏔 The final day of the EAEU Media educational programme began with winning summits. They are of scientific nature though, but the ones that are quite tangible. Early in the morning, the participants of the media school armed with songs and a cheerful mood set off to climb one of the most famous local peaks — Mount Mashuk. One hour of climbing and they were already on top! Fatigue vanished as if by magic when the panorama of the Caucasian Mineral Waters unfolded before their eyes. Results of the Russian-Chinese expert round table🇷🇺🇨🇳 📌On 1 July, a discussion entitled Prospects for International Security and Russian-Chinese Relations amid of the World Order Transformation was held in the Fund’s hall. The round table was attended by representatives of the expert community of both Russia and China. 🤝The event was coorganised by the Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS). Key talking points from the experts' presentations are the following, 🟡The work that our organisations and research centres can do together can be useful to invite the leadership to develop and jointly adopt a coordination plan for foreign policy and international activities. 🟡Today, the main issue to engage Russia in China’s One Belt, One Road Initiative. Here lie great capacities for the development of Russian-Chinese relations. 🟡Most interesting is that Russia and China are going to coordinate efforts in the area of intermediate-range and shorter-range missile systems and jointly counter the related threats to national security. This is the moment when the Russian and Chinese expert communities could discuss the limits of dual countermeasures to dual deterrence. 🟡The greatest danger is that non-nuclear-weapon states are involved in the preparation and conduct of US nuclear operations — a change in the nature of extended deterrence is observed and it is of no secret. 🟡The future of the Northeast Asia region will be determined by the growing trend towards multipolarity. 🟡Dialogue and restoration of opportunities for exchange of views at the expert level are important given the today’s shortage of contacts. ➡All the ideas can be found on the Fund's website! #China

The EAEU Media held in Pyatigorsk. Day Two On 2 July, the participants of the EAEU Media educational programme, who are aspiring journalists from the post-Soviet states, continued their dive into the world of media. They attended workshops and hands-on seminars by lead experts in journalism devoted to the following topics, ✔AI in content creation; ✔working with infographics and stock photography; ✔creating videos for a Telegram channel; ✔basics of news reporting; ✔factchecking; ✔graphic editor capabilities. The media school has been visited by an unexpected guest! 🦊 While the programme participants were sleeping, a red-haired inspecting officer came to check the readiness of the venue. The fox studied every nook and cranny, peeked into the classrooms and even tested the wi-fi connection! It seems that she decided to personally make sure that everything was ready for the fruitful work of our future media bignames. The organisers were not confused and took a few shots of the morning auditor. By the way, she asked me to tell you that the fox inspection has been passed! #mediaschool #mashukknowledgecenter
